Recent trip to Turley tasting room was well worth the trip. Minimalist tasting room, lots of parking, easy handicapped accessibility. Enjoy great red wines. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. 3 sided tasting bar able to accommodate large groups. Reserve tasting worth the additional money. They are known for their red wines, however make a "Whitecoat" on ocassion. Today we found that they had it available for purchase, however not for tasting. If you are in Paso Robles, be sure and visit their other tasting room.
Hello red wine enthusiasts, if you love Zin or Petite Syrah, then this winery is for you! Turley is worth the time, travel and tasting. Become a member and enjoy a great red!
I've had a Turley at a restaurant back in Chicago. We we just left Cooper Vinyards and happen to see Turley so we dropped in. The girl was very helpful and they have some tasty wines like Zinfandel and Petit Syrah. We were there not very long but had a nice time.
we used to visit the tasting room down in templeton fairly regularly and had always liked the Ueberroth Zin, the Petite Syrah and the White Coat. the zins and petite syrahs were big jammy wines and back then we really enjoyed these types of wines. we were happy when we found out that we would be able to revisit some of these wines in Plymouth since Turley had opened up a tasting room there and we regularly visit the El Dorado hills area to stay with friends. unfortunately, the tasting room service was so underwhelming (along with some-not all-of the wines) that we won't be going back.four of us went in to do four tastings, their "regular" tasting and the "reserve" tasting which had three higher end zins (hayne I think but I can't remember the other two) plus a cheese plate. Unfortunately, we left before we had a chance to taste these wines because our server, despite being reminded twice that we had been waiting for a long time for this tasting to begin, just walked away each time and tended to other customers completely forgetting about us. we ended up leaving the $20 on the counter for the two regular tastings and walking out. we went across the street to Rundquist and tasted there and bought a case of wine. because of Turley's awful tasting room service, they lost out on a $300+ purchase from a customer (we would have bought the Cobb(?) Carr(?) zin which was the only wine we really liked among the Turley lineup).as far as the wines went, the Sauv Blanc was too acidic and tart for my tastes but I only like softer SB's like Spring Mountain's so a lot of people would differ with my opinion here. I didn't like the Juvenile Zin at all. it was the sort of zin that would sell elsewhere for $8 if it didn't have the Turley name on it. and the size of the pours were miniscule. you could hardly learn anything about the wines they were pouring from the size of the pours. we won't be back.....
Turley has a great tasting room and very nice staff. The wines are always amazing. The only issue I have with this winery is that many of the wines we tried the day we went in were not all from the area. Otherwise, great experience!
After discovering the Templeton winery, and after time-served, we were able to join the wine club. The Spring Pick-up Party we attended in Amador County was great fun and the food was delicious. They had our wine ready to go and we added 2 petit syrahs. If you are neutral about zinfandels, then this is the winery that will make you a fan.
In the pastoral Shenandoah Valley, at the foot of the Sierras, is Amador County wine country. Home to some of the top Zinfandels, let alone Barbera, that you’ll find anywhere. While cruising through the heart of the valley, you might be surprised at what you see. No, you’re not in Napa or Paso Robles. But right there before your eyes, you see a sign welcoming you in to Turley Wine Cellars. That’s right…Turley! Larry Turley purchased this little piece of heaven in 2012. With the winemaking and vineyard management skills of Tegan Passalaqua, Larry has brought his superb and world class vino to my backyard. I visited the tasting room this past weekend and enjoyed the company, and super friendly personality, of tasting bar barista Allison Caruso. With the tasting room not as busy as I expected, it gave me the opportunity to not only sip some liquid gold, but to have Allison tell me a little bit about the wines and vineyards that make up Larry’s repertoire. If you’re not familiar with Turley and their extensive menu of vino, I would suggest you click the button above and check out their web site. There you’ll plenty of “knowledge” and information about the Turley wines and the source vineyards. OK, back to the tasting room. After taking me through the tasting menu, and a couple wines not on the list, Allison made things so pleasurably confusing…”What do I take home with me”? The thing is there’s not one wine that I wouldn’t take home, or to the finest restaurant. This too will be your dilemma. I ended taking home some Juvenile and Cobb vineyards designate wines. Couldn’t even wait to cellar it, and had the Cobb with pasta that night!
