We have been this place a couple of times. Kids loves it. At your own space, free to talk about the movie, not worrying about disturbing others.
My husband and I went to see Big Hero 6, it was a cute movie. We can't remember the last time either of us had been to a drive in. This was so fun to do.
Popcorn was fresh and tasted good and liked the hotdogs. Both them and the price of entry were good value, so I'd heartily recommend as a fun night out, I read that it was one of the top ten drive-ins in the country, no idea if that's true :)
You can really go to this one almost year round. It's older, but still good. My grandkids hadn't been to one, so it was fun to let them have this experience.Food was better than I remembered for a drive in :)
This is a landmark of SLO, been around as long as I can remember and still going! A great place to take a family for a movie, no crowded seats, gum on the floors etc. You can bring your own food and enjoy the sound on your car's stereo. There is also a swap meet on the weekends!
The theater was built in the 50's and still holds that look and feeling. We are very blessed to have it here in San Luis Obispo County. Come one, come all you will love it. Come for the double feature but remember to bring a loved one and hit the snack bar.
This is a must if your in the area. We've never done this before as we are from rainy UK. But this was our wedding anniversary so thought it would be something to remember and it didn't disappoint, even though it wasn't a film we would have chosen. Drive in park up tune in your radio to a special frequency and enjoy.
A real great-to-go to drive in!! Just like back in the day…..pull up, park and settle in for a great movie under the beautiful San Luis Obispo sky!
I've been coming to movies here all my life and now I get to bring my young sons and share the experience of good old fashion fun with them. They love going I their Jammie's and snuggling up in the back of the car. And I love that little kids are free! By the way...Where else can you see 2 movies and buy a soda and pop corn for under $10?! Love the sunset and I hope it never goes away!
It is one of the few drive-in theaters left in the country. Definitely the early movies are for the kids.
We went to drive in tonight and enjoyed two movies, food is great and popcorn plentiful. Great atmosphere and hard to beat!
Went last night to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Fantastic evening sound great weird sensation of surround sound in car and great base. Good view . Popcorn was $5 with free refills but so big we - 3 of us - didn't need it. Have wanted to do this since I w as a teenager and not disappointed. Highly recommended
So many people watch their movies at home now, that they might not even consider a drive-in theater, or even have one to enjoy. I've been to Sunset several times with a lady friend and her daughter and friends, a couple of times with just my lady friend. This one is great, no trouble or excessive noise, good concessions, and a double feature.
I have to say, it was my second job, working at the drive in, over twenty years ago. I love the fact it hasn't changed much. I bring my young kids there so they can talk, walk and not bother the people around them, like in a movie theater. The first movie is usually kids style, and they fall asleep for the second movie, which is usually more of a grown up feature. Its still cheaper to take a carload than a per person ticket at the theater. We stop and grab food, and make a night of it...its a family favorite.
We are lucky to have this piece of Americana in San Luis. Sunset Drive In caters to the family. Family owned and operated for years. The snack bar has great food and all your favorite candies. So grab the family and head to the Drive In. The food is great, Pulled Pork sandwiches and fresh made pizza, come hungry and enjoy the show. Recently converted to Digital Great Picture.
