Great trails along the coastal bluffs, the perfect place for running or walking. Great views and trails are in good shape. Close to downtown Cambria.
This is a great spot for strolling, hiking, running, bird watching, photography, etc. The one small downside is limited access to the actual shore (for good reason - habitat protection). Otherwise, I can think of nothing at all negative to say about this preserve. Hike through native pine forest, next to riparian habitat along a stream, through coastal grassland, or along the rocky shoreline. A beautiful place to visit when you're in the Cambria area!
Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is a hidden gem. It's covers a huge area south and west of the villages of Cambria, There are well maintained trails, one of which follows right along the ocean with stunning panoramic views. There were several dozing seals on the beach below us and diving ducks looking for lunch. What a pleasure to sit on one of the many benches, soak up the sun and gaze our to sea. There are no signs to guide you there. You have to know where you are going. To get to the parcel that is west of Hwy 1, take Ardath off of Hwy 1 and follow it toward the ocean. On the north side, take Windsor Blvd. and follow it to the ocean. There is another part to the preserve on the east side of Hwy 1. Did not visit that part so will go there next time. The chamber of commerce in Cambria can give you more information. Really a special place!
We took a two mile loop walk that started off on the bluff trail hugging the coast. There are several areas you may stop and sit on very artfully created wooden benches (no two alike). Dogs are allowed on leash on the bluff portion of the trail. There are other trail areas where they are allowed off leash. It was an easy stroll.
Beautiful sea cliff views, Well-Groomed Trails, and Creative wooden bench sculptures make this place a must visit.
Great views from atop the bluffs. Well maintained paths. Almost flat so it is not strenuous. Several nice benches to sit and contemplate.
Walk the bluffs at any pace you choose. Be sure to stop and listen to the birds and the surf. This must be one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Thank God it was preserved!
We hiked the Bluff Trail and it was so beautiful. The boardwalk trail is so well maintained and the scenery is incredible. Can't wait to return and hike some of the other trails. We stopped in town at the Fiscalini visitor center and they were very helpful answering questions, giving background on the property and describing the hikes and birds/animals we might see along the way. It is a great place to hike and it's free of charge. Note: We didn't see any restrooms in the area but there is a public park just down the road where there are restrooms.
this ranch area has trails throughout and vary in the scenery. One follows a bluff that overlooks the coastline and Pacific Ocean. Others lead from grassland into Pine forests. Dogs can be off-lease in some parts and there are plenty of benches for rest or to sit and enjoy the view. Most tourists know nothing of this area in Cambria but should be must experience part of any visit.
We found ourselves in Cambria on a stunningly warm, clear day in January. A little research led us to the south end of the bluff trail in Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. A short drive off of Hwy 1 through a residential area, we found a small parking area and headed up the path near "Otter Cove" (although we didn't spot any there). It was just a short walk up a gentle hill, with a bench here and there, and the occasional friendly hiker. We found a comfy spot, spent an hour or two watching whales spout off in the distance and read our books. A perfect way to enjoy the day, away from the crowds. This is a hidden gem!
Trails go through a forested area, open areas, and right to the beach. Could have wondered this area all day!
Acres and acres of beautiful trails with spectacular ocean views. All trails except the clifftop bluff trail are off leash for dogs.
We hiked here for about an hour with our dog, and got a nice workout, great views, and a happy dog. The trail right along the bluff is relatively flat, and we saw several seals on the rocks. The trail along the ridge is less crowded and has wide views in many directions. Our dog enjoyed this hike, too -- note that most of the trails allow off-leash dogs (if they are under voice control), but the bluff trail is on-leash only.
The bluff trail is a great place to walk for ocean views and an easy, mostly flat, two mile trail. I would do it again.
Moonstone Beach is pretty amazing too. But this is where to go when you want to spend more time by yourself. I love charming little towns like Cambria; it would have been worthwhile if no outdoor had been available. But what makes Cambria truly exceptional is having outdoor like this right on the town's doorstep (my hikes started at my hotel, the Bluebird Inn). Wide-open spaces. Spectacular sunsets over the ocean. Benches to sit and admire it all. Deer; kestrels; pelicans; cypress and pine; and solitude. A walk here can be the high point of any day.
