Beautiful beach with sand, rocks, bluffs, driftwood - just all around nice and relaxing for a long walk.
Loved exploring the tide pools! We missed out on the sandy area. It was further down than we went. The walking trails are GREAT and well built. We need to stay here longer on our next trip! Found a gumboot chiton, starfish and all sorts of ocean life!
It's not an ordinary beach. There is a cliff and if the tide is low, a beach to walk on. The cliff has a wooden walkway. At night the sea crashes into the beach and lower cliff. It's gorgeous. Stay there and walk and just look out to the ocean. Then drive 5 minutes to Cambria for a souvenir stroll.
beautiful. must walk along the beach. relaxing and enjoyable. romantic or great for a morning run. I will definitely return
We went for the moonstones, we came home with some pretty rocks. This beach is special, it has a feel thats wild and fun at the same time. Its beautiful and the beach is rocks, small rocks. You know the ones that when you walk on them all day you get a pedicure, a little rock, not sand, while there is sand too, but the rocks are all rounded out like they have been tumbling for years. Mostly penny sized rocks or smaller, half a penny in many cases, and smaller. Its totally cool. We collected some colorful ones and put it in our bathroom in a clear jar, as a memory of a really really cool beach. Stop, spend 30 and breath it in. Ummmmmm...peaceful, soothing, and fun all in one stop! Enjoy. BTW , if you find a moonstone, its worth like 25 bucks or more as a precious stone. Hunt away! Take off your shoes! Breath!
We've been coming here as locals for 13 years, and they have a couple of really dishes that are consistently good. However, the fish & chips are definitely hit and miss. This visit it was like there were two pieces(small) that were particularly tough. The fish is never very crispy as their coating is a lighter type, but this time it was definitely not at all hot and crispy (and seems to be like that every 3rd time we visit, our friends who visit from out of town have told us that is their experience also). My last thing I would mention is that, although their bartenders do a good job (especially with a Mai Tai) their lemondrops are always on the weak side, again our friends have mentioned this also. They have a big menu and a beautiful setting.
Overlooking the pacific, the outdoor or indoor dining is excellent. We eat there whenever we are in Cambria.
there were no moonstones of large enough size to take. and they are white. bleh I'm used to Mendo area for a beach/rocks. that drive some say is so great? it was bleh and foggy and twisty curvy. pretty awful
Whether at high noon or setting sun both the walk and the beach is an experience to remember. It rivals anything my wife and I have done on beaches east or west coast. Parking is easy all along the drive. Our trips west take place in February to May so our experience is limited to that time but each time has been a delight.
fun to find little treasures in the surf. The area is gorgeous and the boardwalk along the beach is fantastic for walking. So many views that bringing your camera is a must. Search for moonstones especially after a rainfall. I wouldn't go here in spring or summer due to the heavy fog. Winter and fall is the best weather.
MoonStone Beach in Cambria extends to the south along MoonStone Drive. From the Parking lot on the bluff it sweeps to the south and is a lovely panorama to my eyes. On a sunny day, and remember the winter is sunnier than the summer, the green to deep blue water and the razor sharp horizon, and the sun glittering ion the water, and the waves crashing on the rocks, and the fresh salt air and well I am so grateful to live only 45 minutes away. This is a piece of paradise to be savored. Get a sandwich or a burrito from down town Cambria and simply sit in your car. Or Take a walk up and down the beach, or take the long wooden walkway up moonstone drive and enjoy heaven. However you slice it you have arrived
The beach has a nice walkway and the weather was just perfect. We got up early so we cuold see the sun rise and have some quiet time on the beach. It is a beautiul beach. Very Godly and serene.
The boardwalk is amazing! Looking for Seals is always fun! Kids have a fin time as well walking along the beach.
At the south end of Moonstone Drive. Straight across 101 from Cambria town. Large grassy area protected from winds. Pool. Bathrooms. Did I mention the super beach for sunbathing, walking and general great atmosphere?
Easy to get to, so much to take in, endless hours capable of being spent looking through the rocks, hiking the trails, climbing and of course, getting wet! Only dislike would be the fog, but what can you do...??!
