With the weather being so nice lately, we thought it would be fun to pick up some sandwiches and goodies and head out to one of our favorite places in the area for a picnic. There are lots of tables set up outside with comfy furniture and the views of the vineyards are gorgeous! We always enjoy wine tasting here and discovering what is new. We are especially fond of the Alicante Bouschet here and the Tempranillo. The day we visited there was an author doing a book signing at the winery. A table was set up with her books and she was enjoying a glass of white wine while visiting with guests. She was from Ireland and was very interesting to chat with. This is a perfect place to stop for wine tasting and a picnic on your way up to Sequoia/Kings Canyon Park. We enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon here wine tasting, socializing and taking in the pretty views of the vineyards and surrounding area. Thanks Jim & Debbie.... you rock! :)
Whilst staying at the adjacent Bed and Breakfast we decided to try the wine tasting and we weren't to be disappointed. Debbie and Jim, the owners were great at explaining about their wines and they were all great. We purchased a few bottles and enjoyed 1 with our meal that evening at the nearby School House restaurant. We sat out on the backstop enjoying a glass of wine with some of the other customers and had a brilliant afternoon.
The alicante bushet is very nice as are the owners. I hear he has some Pinot Noir he will let you try hidden under the counter.
We stopped at this little off the beaten path winery on our way up to Pinehurst yesterday for some wine tasting. The tasting room is colorful and clean and for $3/pp you can sample 5 very nice wines. We started with the Pinot Grigio which was crisp, clean and very nice, followed by a Pinot Noir which we purchased. This was the wineries first production of Pinot Noir and turned out very good. The Alicante Bouschet is the signature wine here, we always like to have some on hand at our house. Next was the Tempranillo which was also very good, followed by a big, jammy Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a nice area to enjoy your tastings, gifts can be purchased here and there is also a B&B at the winery called the Sequoia View Bed and Breakfast for overnight guests.Don't miss this place for some wine tasting on the way up to the Sequoia or Kings Canyon National Pakrs. The hosts are very friendly also and they love what they do here! :)
