Nestled in a rolling dale, surrounded by smoothly rounded coastal range hills, the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery looked recently spit-shined, and nothing out of place or happenstance. The acres of pre-spring green grass and the ground-level grey headstones come into view at the rock walled entry complete with sentry bars, then beckon you to a staging area and on toward a large permanent arbor there to shield against the elements. The ceremony was military clean, simple and short, but done with all of the pomp and circumstance, crisp gentility, and sincerity as one would desire for the living and dearly departed. The bemedalled sergeant and his assistant were military sharp, respectful and meticulous. A Beautifully compassionate bugle rendition of "Taps" emanated from top quality sound system, the flag was refolded, and our family elder spoke. We said our goodbyes. I have not stopped there but our friend's brother is buried there and he has told me all about it as we have passed near by
