The visitor's center museum is small but nice. There are some exhibits regarding the Ohlone Indians - including a canoe. There are some wildlife exhibits. There are picnic tables outside in a shaded tree area. Also on Wednesdays, you can see the pretty garden area (on other days take a peak through the fence area). This museum is part of Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont. Its an exceptiional park for hikes and bike rides. The admission fee is $5.00 per car; or if you bike in, free.
This is an impressive museum for such a small regional park. The volunteers and staff do a great job and have a lot of activities for families to do on their visit.
This serene (and huge!) park is part of the East Bay Regional Park Distict -- on Fremont Bay's shoreline. It's a rich wetland that has been preserved, full of hundreds of species of birds & other wildlife, along with Ohlone Indian shellmounds. I really liked their Visitor Center. It has information & exhibits about the Ohlone way of life, and a tule reed boat constructed using native American methods. Great hiking and biking, too.
