This is a nice marsch area to see animals such as deer and birds. it is part of the Pescadero State Beach area. It is very pretty in its own right. There are sometimes ranger led tours of the marsch area.
The beach had loads of seals hauled out and sunning themselves. This is a great place to take the kids.
Very natural & unspoilt. We have seen herons & snakes there, wonderful!! If you appreciate ht beauty of nature & don't need man made attractions, this is the place to go.
A real marshland. When the wild mustard is in bloom it's lovelly. I never found it a great place to hike, just a place to look at from the various road vantage points at times.
I couldn't find the Pescadero State Beach page on Trip Advisor but the marsh is part of the park.In one word, this beach views are "amazing". You can climb down onto the beach from the north side parking lot.
We had a nice walk, but parked in the dirt lot on the way to Pescadero. The trail from there dead ended instead of making a loop. It would have been better if we had started on the ocean side-later we saw that the trail from there was better marked. The marsh itself is beautiful and we lots of interesting birds.
We read about the marsh and had clear directions but still had trouble finding it (it's just across the highway from Pescadero Beach). Though we were attracted by the bird-watching possibilities, we actually saw only a few birds on our visit. Nonetheless we enjoyed our visit, thanks to the extensive variety of plant life and the serenity of the place. The trail is overgrown; long pants are recommended. There are no restrooms at the marsh, but there is one across the road at the beach.
Wonderful place to walk thru the marsh. Much different from your normal walk/hike. Lots if birds and scrubby plant life. A very pleasant and peaceful walk. Mostly , you may be the only folks there. If you park on CA 1 to endter, you can come out on Pescadero Rd about a mile from your car and follow the road back if you prefer. Go a bit further down Pescadero Rd to the town and beyond and enjoy a very different type of day.
197 different kinds of birds fly by. 300 acre marsh with trails. magical !
