This beach is the perfect place to take a walk and explore. It wasn't very crowded and there was good access to the shore. It's definitely worth a stop!
It is such a beautiful scenic beach. Just pull over and enjoy on your way to Duartes restaurant in Pescadero for famous soup!
This is an awesome beach in Halfmoon bay!!! One of my favorites!!! Beautiful views, miles of beautiful sandy beach. This beach also has a few caves, cool exploring!
Pomponio State Beach in Half Moon Bay is a very pretty place to sit and watch the ocean. its also a good place to watch the birds. There is a small lagoon. We have a state park pass (yearly) so for us we use that to pay our small parking fee.
Never very crowded. You can walk up to San Gregorio beach, about two miles away. Just you and the birds and a very few other scattered human beings.
This beach is very nice and easy to get to. It is about 15 miles south of 92 and 1 in Half Moon Bay. Parking is $8 and bring exact change. There are bathrooms in the parking lot, but I was told to avoid them.
Came upon this beach while cruising south on the PCH from the Bay Area. Very easy access, quiet, uncrowded, and unspoiled. Peaceful and windy and perfect for a meditative walk with a loved one or alone. A storm was brewing which made it even lovelier. We walked and scouted sea glass and found several nice pieces. This is perfect for just a little stop in your travels or to spend a day. Picnic tables are available but no one was there to use them. One person was fishing as we walked and there were wonderful rock cliffs where we said hello and goodbye to a starfish. Enjoy.
It had been a while since my last visit to Pomponio State Beach, but it was more beautiful than I had remembered. The sand was supersaturated several yards in from the surf, and reflected the sunset and silhouettes of my children playing - let's just say, amazing photo ops. The tall, sandstone cliffs and misty horizon provided a picturesque afternoon at the beach. Highly recommend if you're near half moon bay.
good spot to stop for sure if you like nature its not southern California but a great scenic spot to visit plan a few hours and take photos
Great beach to take your dog but it gets crowded, especially over a holiday weekend so I recommend going in the morning. The pay to park is confusing; I ended up paying $10 for the entire day when we only wanted to pay for 2 hours! You still have idiots who just let their dogs run around and run up to anyone and their dogs. Why people think this is OK is beyond me! There are a ton of dogs so if you don't like dogs, drive south a few miles to the beaches that do not allow pets.
We had been traveling the PCH for a week. We ended at Pomponio State Beach. We walked the beach for at least a couple of hours (going both south and north). At one point I told my husband I have just run out of words to describe this and all that we have seen. As we thought we were taking a last look, whales showed up and we stayed at least another half hour watching them play and swim north.
I was driving two of my granddaughters to Half Moon Bay, after visiting San Mateo County Memorial Park. We saw the sign for Pomponio State Beach and decided to stop for a while. My two granddaughters spent over an hour alternately wading in and fleeing from the surf while I strolled along the beach admiring the view. We watched surfers off-shore and some egrets beside a large tidal pool. Our visit was a relaxing break from the drive and worth the admission fee.
Visited at sunrise. Lot's of shore birds & marine life on the beach at low tide. Good facilities.
All down the coast it is one state beach after another eaxch with surfers and with amazing views and in some cases amazing cliffs. Definitely a relaxing drive.
Um praia muito bonita, outra pra variar, em Half Moon Bay. O lugar é calmo e tranquilo, com uma bela paisagem. Uma passada lá pra relaxar é uma ótima pedida.
