Beautiful, imaginative, Disney styled theater. Loved the architecture. Saw The Nutcracker ballet...Live theater. Seating is not well designed. Seats placed directly in front of each other and not at a steep enough angle so my view was blocked by a tall big headed person. Was also surprised at the acoustics. Evidently not designed with a live full orchestra in mind. Still overall a must see experience. I will definitely go back and check out a film or another live event (without an orchestra).
It reminded me of Disneyland - feels like you're outside when you're not. Even though the place has seen better days, it's just so cool that I want to see movies there all the time. What makes it so great is that it's like traveling back in time. It's the best kind of theater from another time.
This is truly a unique venue. From the minute you walk up to the theater you get the "old school" vibe with a real ticket booth. From there the walk to the theater has many sights to see. There is a second place to buy tickets right outside the front doors. The inside of the theater is made to look like you are sitting under the stars in a Spanish village. Look closely and you will see that even some of the shadows are painted on. Not the most comfortable theaters, no stadium seating and no cup holders. I have been to a few concerts where the front row of seats have actually been torn off their foundation (it wasn't me!!). Lots of great memories here (Concerts, Movie premiers, Film Festivals, symphonies). If you ask nicely they will let you browse the inside of the theater without buying tickets for the movie that is playing.
Amazing renovation. We havent been here since they re did the property. It had been about ten years and this place rocks. What a fantastic asset to Santa Barbara. The foundation behind this place knows what they are doing!!
This theatre is a treat just to visit. It was built in the early 1900's and has kept all the beauty that was envisioned at it's concept. Each event there is a pleasure to attend.
I've gone the last 4 years and all I can say is WOW! The Arlington is the perfect venue for this holiday treat. The dancing, orchestra, and audience have made this an ongoing tradition for my family.
The Arlington shows everything from movies to theater to concerts, and the Santa Barbara Movie Festival. It is the largest venue in the community, decorated quaintly like a spanish village. Good dinner spots nearby.
Went to the Arlington Theater to see Magic Johnson's inspirational speech. Beautiful, nostalgic theater with a Mexican Village theme along the side walls. Could have used some air conditioning as it did get warm even with an 8:00 pm start time. Magic talked about " The Magic of Winning" and included stories about the Lakers, Dodgers and his business career. He walked up and down the aisles and interacted with the audience as he told his stories. Next time I will see a play or musical event at the Arlington Theater
Nice atmosphere in an old beautiful theatre. It was a packed house, and the air conditioning could not keep up. It was hard to enjoy the show with sweat running down your face and back. They need to upgrade that.
I have never before been inside a theatre/cinema thats has the ceiling lit up like a sky & has the sides looking like a mexican street scene. Truly amazing, and the foyer is so beautiful. Has to be seen to be believed
Old school theater with the most unique decor I've ever seen. Comfy seats, huge, and loads of character.
You know, the old velvet seats do feel a little lumpy and we're not talking stadium seating and lots of leg room, BUT the Arlington has the most amazing ambiance. The tile and murals of the entryway are beautiful before you even get inside to appreciate the vintage details of this historic theater, and wait until you get inside! I'm not going into detail in hopes you have the glorious luxury of being surprised when you walk in. I'll just say that the ceiling twinkles with stars and you'll have plenty to look at while you wait for the show. Enjoy!
This is the place to watch a movie in the 21st Century. Forget the 16-plexes, the food service joints serving frozen pizza and bad drinks. The Arlington takes you to the movies as it used to be. You sit under the stars (twinkling from he ceiling), surrounded by a charming village front. Special place for movie lovers.
Such an excellent concert venue. This is a historic theater, so beautifully maintained. The exterior is a grand Spanish design with white stucco and red tile roofing. The interior is complete with frescoes and so much detail.
Where else can you go to a beautifully restored old theatre that looks like you are sitting in the courtyard of a gracious Spanish hacienda looking up at the stars in the sky while you watch the organ rise from under the stage. Don't miss it!
