I wanted to do something "California Healthy", while I was visiting my daughter with my friend in January. Asked her to take me back to Quicksilver (we were there in July). The park used to be an old mine and has been turned into this park with many great trails. I am just getting back into exercising, and my friend had a portion of her lung removed due to lung cancer - yet we both were able to navigate one of the one-mile trails. It wasn't easy, but we took our time and felt like we had accomplished something during the hike.It was very muddy and slippery in some spots on this day, so I would recommend being caution up there after a rain. At the top of one of the hills, there are some great views, if it isn't cloudy. Remember to take some water and light jacket if you are hiking in the morning. All of the hikers, dogs, and horses, seems to enjoy this park and are very friendly. Highly recommend giving it a try.

the park has many nice trails, some are easy (flat) some are more strenous, but nothing too hard, You can hike the short one about 3 miles or long one 10 miles or more. Some trails allow horse and bicycle riding, The view is nice, there are many shady spots, On a clear day you can see all the way to San Jose downtown

Remains of mining era building, feeling of total isolation, undeveloped and rustic, some extremely steep trails, not for those who don't enjoy a workout and just want to stroll...

I come here often with my dog because I have found it is the best place to hike in San Jose. Great views, and it gets you out of the city. If you take some trails you can see old mining equipment, or a dam, or a river. I enjoy taking my dog and he has a blast there. We always see other hikers who seem to be having a good time. You can do hikes from 2-3 miles to 9+ miles depending on how you are feeling. I come here as often as my schedule allows. They also provide toilets near entrances, maps and bags to pick up dog poop.

Just awesome! Our kids and their friends visit the park often. They use the various entrances - so a bit of change of scenery each time. Seeing the deer is exciting and a great experience is going up to view the "dam"

We hiked 1.5 miles on a wide, rolling trail to the old mine. Beautiful views to the west and the recent rain cleared the air so we could see all the way to San Francisco to the north. My 5 year old was done after the hike to the mine so she turned around. My 9 year old and I went on to the English camp ghost town. There are some informational placards some of the structures are still standing. For me the best part was the views, for others seeing a bit of history. There are many miles of other trails that I'd love to explore.

At Almaden Quicksilver Park, all the usual forms of 'transport' are supported. You can ride horseback, run, hike, walk or bike. Trails very from moderately challenging to very challenging (if you are running). Some trails permit horses while others do not. Same for bikes. Some of the views, especially from the higher points, are stunning. There are several ways to access the park, but only a couple have restroom facilities and there are none on the trails. What I most enjoy though is that you can go for many miles without repeating your path.

Well marked trails. Great views of the city below and great for taking pictures of old mines, paths and animals. Take your own water and food on the trails. Dogs allowed.

This park - in a canyon setting - has a lot of very nice trails. There is very nice scenery. Be sure to also stop by and see the Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum if in the area. This park is the site of the first mine in California. There is a reservoir here as well - but note due to the mercury level in the area, it is fenced off from entry.

This park has it all, beautiful trails. Wonderful creeks and the most fantistic scenery. If you get the urge to go for a hike, you have to try this place!!

Love this park for its variety of trails, easy to strenuous and amazing views. At the right time of day there are often deer and occasionally the wild pigs make an appearance.

Ideal for locals and visitors with long stays in Bay Area is Almaden Quicksilver County Park where one can enjoy bush walk. You can select the trail you want to walk by obtaining a map from park ranger. Clean crispy air and quietness of this area is really amazing. So near to San Jose City that one can just drive for 5-7 minutes from downtown SanJose and reach this place where solitude is enjoyable.

Rustic, challenging, full of wildlife. Lots of options for trails. Interesting history and old mercury mine sites. You can end up in the old town where the miners settled, New Almaden. Really enjoyed this trail.

This park is free. People take horses there. Thee water is real low due to drought. The river has Steal heads.
