Hubby and I are first time snowboarders. The staff were patient and informative and the rental process was pretty easy. We'll return!

Absolutely awesome experience. I searched internet and determined Snow Summit was my best bet as a beginner. I called and asked a variety of questions, and booked lesson and rentals over phone. I arrived 45 mins early. MY ADVICE IS ARRIVE AT LEAST ONE HOUR EARLY. Given the large amount of skiers, I thought the rental staff did a superb job. I made it to lesson a few minutes late, and was nicely welcomed. I was part of a group of four. The instructor's name was Christian and he did an awesome job. He did an excellent job of explaining the mechanics of skiing, while emphasizing the need to develop the feeling and reflexes of skiing. It is easy to over think the process. After a couple of hours and a few flops, I was riding up the advanced beginner lifts and confidently snaking downhill. I truly enjoyed it so much, I'm looking forward to my next ski trip. Be safe, wear sunscreen, and have fun.

I recently experienced the worst costumer service I have ever endured at Big Bear Mountain Ski and Snowboarding resort. My boyfriend and I came to snowboard for Valentine’s Day, and the conditions were extremely unsatisfactory; very slushy and very sticky snow. After two runs we decided the snow conditions were too poor and too dangerous to continue snowboarding for the day. We were disappointed because we drove 80 miles one way and paid holiday pricing, etc.My boyfriend and I really were looking forward to a good day of boarding together; however, the poor snow conditions spoiled that. We weren’t expecting poor snow conditions because usually the resort blows snow overnight, or the day of, and no matter how warm the weather may be the snow is usually fairly decent. Well, after deciding to leave at around noon, I went to Guest Service’s to inquire about the options of a voucher for future visits or equivalent. I did recall Big Bear having great customer service over the many years I have been going there, and I explained to the “customer service” representative the situation. I asked if there were any options half day refund, or next visit vouchers they could provide us so we could return on another date and enjoy the resort (Big Bear used to provide a $20 voucher if you left before 1pm). The representative informed me “that they do not have the $20 voucher program any longer if you leave before 1pm anymore, and they are not interested in compensating any money or voucher for the poor conditions.” The representative was so unwilling to help me (and I am truly a loyal and ongoing customer) that I asked to speak to her supervisor. I was then put on the phone with a supervisor named Kendy, who immediately was the rudest person I have come across in a long time! Not to mention, this is a “customer service” supervisor? I couldn’t believe it!Kendy told me “didn’t you do your own research before you came? Didn’t you know it was going to be warm?” To which I replied, “yes, but you usually have snow blowers on the night before or the day of so the conditions have never been considered bad in my opinion over the seven years I have been coming.” She laughed at me and told me “it’s not her problem that I didn’t like the conditions.” Kendy refused to compensate me in any way to come back on a later date and enjoy the resort. I proceeded to explain to Kendy:“I am a loyal customer who has been coming for years. I was a previous season pass holder and I bring friends regularly to snowboard, eat, drink, and enjoy Big Bear Mountain with me over many years. I am not asking for a monetary refund specifically, I was just hoping for a voucher, or anything at all, since I had gotten there at 9am, parked in VIP, had lunch and drinks at the resort, and tried to make the best of the day. I just wanted a voucher to return another day since we were leaving at noon (not even a full half day), and on top of it all we paid holiday prices!”Kendy continued to laugh at me and said “do you really think I am going to give you a voucher because you came on Valentine’s Day? I don’t care if it’s Valentine’s Day.” Her snicker and condescending tone was disgusting to say the least! I told her, “not because it is Valentine’s Day and I am here to have a good day with my boyfriend, but because you are charging holiday prices, that is why I brought up Valentine’s Day specifically.” Finally Kendy said, “She is okay with permanently losing me as a customer.”We are loyal customers, who come often, and enjoy the resort for all its amenities regularly. We love Big Bear Mountain… Well, at least we used to. I am appalled at the way Big Bear Mountain Ski and Snowboarding resort handles their customer service. This experience was by far one of the worst customer services experiences ever! There is not a reason at all for any paying customer to be treated in such a demeaning manor! This is extremely poor customer service and very Bad Business!!

What an awesome experience was to stop by the Snow Summit. We were on our way to San Diego and decided to check out Big Bear. We were on a schedule and were not able to stay for long. We, however, enjoyed walking on snow, seeing people snowboarding and little kids playing with the snow. You can rent out the ski gear and even though we didn't sky we were allowed to walk around designated areas without paying a fee. We had some hot chocolate and were left with a great impression. I will definitely be back and prepared to stay a weekend at Big Bear.

We have been a few times to ski here. Its great for the whole family. We all started out with lessons a few yrs ago and those were great! The instructors knew what they were doing and gave great instruction. My son and I ski, the husband snow boards, but it is a great park for both. T

I went during MLK weekend - lines were a bit long, but not so bad. There are many routes to chose from, from green to blue to black. The snow is not bad, there are ski rentals. I got my rentals for about 24 dollars, and the half day ticket was 58 dollars (because it was a long weekend). Definitely a great place to go if you want to escape the city for a weekend. The weather is also great!

The skiing was good, lift lines were pretty short for a holiday weekend but it was HOT. Very hot and the snow got slushy. Nothing they can really do about that but I think we are feeling the major pinch of the drought.

City_Girls_CA

Expect lines over an hour long for equipment rental and lift rides on busy weekends. Parking is impossible but they will let you drop off and pick up at the top of the hill so it works out nicely if you have someone who is not skiing.

Great mountain for Souther California, can get a little busy at times but well worth some of the long lines. Definitely worth the trip up to Big Bear from LA.

Like the terrain and how close it is to lodging. Snow Summit Townhouses are right at the base so makes skiing/boarding really enjoyable to be so close to lodging.

I always hated snow boarding because I did it in Colorado and it was always freezing. Here, in Big Bear, you are able to stay warm with clothes. The snow was powdery (it was natural snow when we went, there was a recent storm). It was very packed but we went during the busiest week (New Years). I highly recommend Big Bear if you live in LA / San Diego / Inland Empire.

this is get place to learn to ski and enjoy with the family .. get there early and get away from the base area.. lots of family terrain near the top .. good fit and awesome views from the restaurants up top .. none of the terrain is too challenging ..

Showed up with 12 people and had a great time. All runs were open and well maintained. Staff was great. All lodges had the games on and toasty warm to sit and relax between runs. Parking was a little crazy but that's to be expected on a heavy weekend. Night skiing was awesome! All night runs were well lit and the lines were minimal. Very good memories for our first time skiers/boarders. I highly recommend this resort.

I love to see new places and to see my little kids happy. My girls also love to see new places and we love natural things. In this mountain we learned to ski. First time of our lives and it was truly incredible. We hired a teacher Pam, at first we didn't get it and fell all the time. With just 2 hours of training it was enough and I could already ski down the mountain and stand from the lift without falling. Pam is a great teacher. It was truly amazing and a great experience i absolutely LOVED IT one of the best experiences totally worth going amazing.

Reservation ticket holders beware!!! since the by-out from Mammoth none of the existing reservations are valid. I found out the hard way lift ticket reservations i purchased last season, that were not to expired, are not honored due to "the merge". There was no notification even though my email is on file - "sorry we can't email every single one who has a ticket reservation". They do see my information and previous reservations but can't honor it. Not even a for a discount.
