The best kept secret in Truckee,Great food and excellent service, the Lodge at Tahoe Donner is the place
Down to the quality of the chairs and tables, I felt like they really put some effort into making this a 1st class place. The drinks were very unique and we like it when something new is offered, instead of the same thing at every place we go. The golfing was outstanding as well as the views!
Whether you own a home as we do or rent a vacation rental @ Tahoe Donner you are in for a treat. With more amenities than you could possibly use, the key is to plan ahead. A boat on Donner Lake or a short drive down to Lake Tahoe for a canoe, kayak, ski or sailboat await.Fishing, hiking--simply the best you could hope for, but most important the people who, live, work and support the numerous recreational activities that await from your base at Tahoe-Donner will leave a memorable experience you'll want to come back to again and again. Enjoy!
Lots to do!! Trails for biking, hiking and walking your dog. Awesome pools in the summer and playgrounds for the kids. They have a lap pool, gym, ski resort, private beach, golf course, equestrian center, cross country skiing and on and on. Great place to visit or live!
While staying at Tahoe Donner we took the opportunity to hike on one of the many trails. The best one was the ridge hike to see a sky view of Donner Lake. Just stunning.
Tahoe Donner is a world class nordic center. It is so beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My favorite part is hanging out at the Nordic center deck in the sun. Great food. Good for families. Best deal in Tahoe.
Its got everything. Golf, tennis, beach club, fitness center, hiking trails, cross country. They had a fall festival this weekend which is great for the kids.
Another stop I have to make whenever I'm in Tahoe. This place is absolutely beautiful! You have to stop by the bridge and take a picture of Donner lake. If you have a chance, it is also a great place to camp!
We love living here in TD. The amenities are fabulous, it's easy to meet people and they are warm and welcoming. Water aerobics and Zumba are my favorite classes, but I also use the gym and the trails. And we love our homeowners' beach at Donner Lake, where we have potluck BBQs every Monday evening during summer. The downhill ski hill is the best and most affordable place in Tahoe to teach grandkids to ski!
The Tahoe Donner trail system is unbeatable. I have hiked them, mountain biked them and have been horseback riding. They are well marked, so even if you are alone, it's difficult to get lost. The TD Association has done a great job of keeping them up, adding bridges over creeks, clearly marking the boundaries, and keeping them clear of garbage. Euer Valley is a beautiful place to bike or hike. There are some steep climbs, but the maps clearly mark them and you can still enjoy an all day hike wth young children.
First time skiing for my 4 and 6 yr old children as well as my 42y/o husband. All received lessons from the friendly staff (10am-noon) and enjoyed it. Great beginners runs (green and blue) but only minimal black diamonds...we went at the end of March and the snow was melting already.Would recommend to all who are just beginning to learn to ski!
Great place to teach kids. Visited here with my grand kids , they loved it. Small and easy to keep track of them. Not a place for black diamond skiers. We had a great day.
We went on a Friday, took a 10 AM ski lesson with Chauncey, and spent the rest of the day on the trails. There are trails for every skill, as well as some snowshoeing trails. The trails are well groomed, and there are warming huts every so often. It is beautiful out there! They also have a small day lodge with a fireplace and yummy food. We saw young and old enjoying themselves at this great location!
We went skiing over the weekend at the nordic center. It was MLK weekend, so busy, but the staff has a good system for processing rentals. They had sleds, and we rented one for my 1 year old to ride in. The snack bar at the end was surprisingly nice, and there were lots of people hanging out.Good experience, well maintained trails, beautiful scenery. It seemed a little expensive, but the last time I went was ten years ago in Colorado.
TRails are well groomed with several warming huts along the way.Skiing here is for all capabilities, from easy, to intermediate and difficult. There is a nice lodge and cafe for food.
