Our friend, Jerry Lee, was starring in "Les Miserables". The show was great. The cast had good voices with the main characters having very good voices. Of course, Jerry Lee has a great voice. The sets were very good and so were the costumes. We had a hot dog there which was quite tasty. We will definitely make the long drive back there again in the future.

Inexpensive summerstock type venue in pretty setting in Oakland Hills. Classic musicals done by some young professionals with lots of community participation. Fun family atmosphere. Kids welcomed.

Great opportunity to see the theater under the stars at reasonable prices. You can even get one child ticket i free for each adult ticket the day of the show. Check out their website for ticket details. You can even bring your own food and drinks in! Many people like to come early and have a picnic before the show.

The other reviews have all the details, about Woodminster's WPA roots, the fountains and pools. It is just a great spot in the hills, great views, and a great spot to enjoy a play outdoors, When we moved to the area almost 20 years ago, the pools and fountains were in very poor shape, but fortunately residents sorted out how to revitalize the space. Iam very glad they did. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Woodminster is good for the occasional performance, but most of what they perform is old standards, many of them dated. The seating is marginally comfortable and the dining area is infested with yellow jackets. We don't go here very often.

This historic outdoor theater is in an incredibly beautiful setting in a redwood park. Go here to see a reasonably-priced classic musical on summer evenings. Walk to the theatre from below, along the lovely array of fountains, pools and waterfalls which adorn the path. These were built as WPA projects during the 1930's and have been restored, so that all are functioning now.

I've been attending the shows at this theater in the past 20 yrs. and each time I was very pleased with the performance. I like to sit on the last row in this outdoor amphitheater because after the sunset then you can see a spectacular view of the Bay and also can see the lights in San Francisco. They have tickets for Seniors and that saves me some money to see a nice show in summer time. Some evenings might be a little bit cold and you can see the fog rolls in on top of the hill which makes it more beautiful while watching the show. Highly recommend to see the summer shows being played here from July-Sept. each year. You can have your picnic dinner inside the amphitheater in the late afternoon and then stay for the show. It is a great entertainment for the whole family.

This is the outdoor home of live theater and music in Oakland. Come early and stroll in the late afternoon light along the reflecting pond and climbe the staircase up to the back of the stage area. From hear you can survey the City down to the Bay and visually trip across the bridges to San Francisco. The sunset and the golden Gate might even line up between the trees. Then make you way around to the seating area entrance and find your place to enjoy theater, musical or music performances.

We usually go to the preview show that is very inexpensive. Highly recommend it if you enjoy musical theatre. The talent is often first rate.

The summer musicals are really special. You get to sit outside under a starry sky. You have to bring a jacket and a blanket for the legs because it does get cold. The snacks are very good. The bathroom is big.

Live, quality musicals under the stars in the Oakland Hills. Reasonable prices with great family entertainment. Only problem is no public transportation is available.

It had been a few years since we had been to Woodminster, located in Joaquin Miller Park in the Oakland Hills. We used to have season tickets, but finally got back last night for Annie Get Your Gun. The setting is spectacular with beautiful views of the bay. Take a picnic and go early for dinner on the grounds or right in the theater where they have picnic tables at the rear. It is very family oriented and kids go free with a full priced adult ticket. They bring in outside talent for lead roles and locals round out the productions with a live orchestra. Bring a coat and blanket as even summer evenings here can get cold. Last night towards the end of the production you could see the fog rolling in overhead being lit up by the lighting. Very fun way to spend a delightful evening.

This was essentially my back yard for three years. Located in excellent park and provides some great outdoor entertainment. This is another under utilized gem in Oakland! So many folks that have lived in Oakland for years that have never visited, such a shame. Located in Jaquim Miller Park with some amazing views. I've seen some cool events here, (weddings/graduations/movie shoot location). Worth a visit on a nice summer evening for a picnic and a show.

This is a hidden gem. We like to get there early and picnic prior to the performance. It is so much fun to be outdoors, see wonderful performances. Great escape, while staying in town. If you are new to the area, this is where locals go!
