This is a must see attraction! To think that someone took dozens of years to build an underground compound with gardens and living space. You can't see it from the street because it is underground. But up close is beautifully done. So much history here you need to take the family and see how great it is!

These gardens are absolutely incredible and well worth seeing. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. One man's vision, determination and hard work resulted in an amazing creation. Totally enjoyed the experience and left in awe.

One mans idea turned into a creation. Just a few minutes from the hotel and we were there. Truly enjoyed our kind who told us the history of the gardens. Thanks

There is some family history that is interesting about this place but all in all it is overrated. Groups of visitors are lead through a maze of dug out rooms. There is no literature and you are not allowed to explore on your own. I would not recommend this "attraction" for families with small children due to the sometimes confined spaces.

Hard to believe that any person would create this environment. It was nothing but digging for YEARS. Definitely a curiosity worth seeing.

This really is a one-of-a-kind attraction. The host does a nice job of taking visitors through a tour of the underground rooms and explaining the history and undertaking behind this sprawling structure. A visitor gets to walk through most of the remaining building and can easily imagine what it was like to live there. The dug-out living quarters contain a unique mix of ruggedness, ingenuity, and practicality. It reminded me more of visiting ancient ruins than pretty gardens. Although called "gardens," it really is more of a fascinating living space interspersed with a variety of fruit trees. Each tree has access to the surface through some type of window or hole. It also provides a break from the hot Fresno sun. If you are visiting Fresno, it's worth a peek.

This place is really interesting. Amazing what the man did by his self. This is a great place to show children about what dedication can to.

This is a lovely place for a family visit, especially during the hottest time of the year here: it's always temperate twenty feet underground. The amount of effort and care that went into the construction of this amazing bit of Fresno's past are mind-boggling.It's all about the vision. Check this out, it's well-worth a few hours.

A marvel of what a person can do. It such a beautiful and unique place but my claustrophobia got the best of me. Underground rooms and gardens that are beyond description.

I took my mom to the garden for Mothers Day. It was my first time there. It is a really neat spot that is hidden away underground. The side of town that it is located at, is not easy on the eyes (especially for out of towners). However, don't let that dissuade you. After a brief orientation, the tour guide (all very friendly) take you through the garden and it is amazing to see. The temperature underground is nice and cool, so if you go in Summer, it's perfect place to beat the notorious Central Valley heat. Lastly, as a local I would recommend that if you are staying for extended trip, don't book a hotel in this area.

Once you learn a bit of the story of the place, you appreciate the man behind it and the efforts of those who want to preserve it.Definitely interesting if you love seeing windows to the past.

Closed. Looks nice. I wish TripAdvisor would be more accurate on open times. Nothing more to write. Why am I required to write a 100 characters review?

It was a hot day in Fresno in September so it was refreshing to go underground to a fantasy land. I was very impressed with the tunneling and the imagination of this man. The tour guide was knowledgeable and for what was offered, I believe the price was right. I wouldn't recommend it for kids. They would probably be bored after a few minutes but it certainly was something different to add to our wonderful trip out West. It was a bit of a challenge to find.. Get out the GPS.

Great place to bring visitors from out of town! We took our cousins from Colorado Springs Colorado in August 2014. Interesting, easy to park and get there and no traffic jam! Well, there are no traffic jams in Fresno, California; best kept little secret in USA!

My wife and I had stopped for lunch in Fresno, and did a quick search of the area for any interesting attractions. The underground gardens seemed to fit the bill, so we headed over just in time for a tour. I was extremely impressed with the work that it took to make all the tunnels and enjoyed hearing the history from our guide. The scenery was beautiful, well worth our time and the price of admission.
