公司组织去的,门票略贵25刀,最近重新开张的,5个展厅互动性地介绍声音,显像,微生物等科学现象,小朋友玩得很开心,带孩子玩不错
This hands on experience covers concepts of physiology, biology, geology, hydrology, oceanography, geography, and physics. The exhibits make difficult concepts understandable. This is a natural environment for children to get excited about science. Also, it is fun for adults.
Took the cable car and light rail. The price is very reasonable and there is so much to see. The cafeteria was unique but salad bar was very good.
Crowds were huge and loud with lots of groups, but I had a CityPass so I skipped the line with my lovelies haha. Absolutely awesome place to teach the young ones about everything science!! Even on Free Day March 14th it was not too loud or too busy. Well designed and spaced out to accommodate large crowds. Favourite was probably seeing the blood vessels in my eye. Awesome experience. My 6 year old is still talking about it.
This is a great place to visit if the weather is bad. It's a large science fair that allows you to stimuilate your mind both visually and interactively. It would be fun for any age.
The museum was full of field trip kids making a family outing miserable losing my daughter in the crowds of rude kids who were constantly butting in front of my kids. I am not sure if weekends are better but a friday in march was too swamped for me to pay for this experience. Bad experience for us anyway
Today was 3.14.15, and we were at the Exploratorium for PI DAY!It was a free day, so the lines were really long, we start the line at the back of the restaurant, but it was moving, and close to the entrance the nice staff were handling lemonade to all people at the line!As we got our tickets, (they are still handling tickets even at free days, to count on the number of people, and also they ask if you want to make a donation, so we did), we could find all of the exhibits were full, but we managed to still enjoyed some of them. But, after all the walking we were ready for our lunch at the SeaGlass restaurant, and then we went to the North Gallery/Outdoor Exhibits where already the line started for the procession for PI, and we received the our numbers, and waited, but after our walking we were served some pie (choice of pecan, apple, lemon and banana) and a t-shirt! We missed another great activities for PI DAY, but we were so glad we were part of the 27th Annual PI Day!For sure, we will have to visit again the Exploratorium for being able try on the many different exhibits!By the way, I almost forgot to mention the while we were at the line, one of the staff members, told us about the man who started all about PI DAY at the Exploratorium, 27 years ago, they called him the Prince of PI, a physicist called Larry Shaw, when they were at the old location, and even he has being retired, he likes to back at the Exploratorium especially on PI DAY, but we didn't see him!
Wish I've seen this 20 years ago when I was still a student. If you are in this area and with kids, this is a MUST see.
We had the kick-off party for a conference there and it was so much fun! You could just walk around the place and play with all the exhibits while enjoying a drink and great food.I found the physics & electricity parts more fun than the biology ones, but I guess this is just a matter of preference. If you go outside on the terrace you can see the bridge, the ocean and the city lights. It's such a great sight!
The Exploratorium is one of the best museums i have visited. The practical hands on experience it offers is amazing.
This children's museum is world class, and unlike anything we had seen before. Tons of fun and imaginative things to do, even for adults. Since it is on the Pier, the only catch is finding parking - park early in the day for the best deals.
In a nutshell.. It's overhyped, fantastic for field trips, rough around the edges, overpriced and genuine. However, it's lacking a "wow" that draws you into a story and let's you make an emotional connection to the place, the science and the application of ideas represented here. The wood, nut and bolt displays are somewhat repetitive and visually basic. I noticed many kids simply running wild, pulling nobs, turning cranks, donning earphone, and putting their heads in domes without even knowing why. For $29 they could also provide hand sanitizer. If there is a communicable disease breakout in the Bay Area it will originate from the Exploritorium, The cafe, on a special note, offers interesting cuisine freshly prepared with top notch ingredients--a great surprise.
I can't rave about this place enough! Friends and I took the kids here on a gorgeous San Francisco day (we got lucky because rain was in the forecast). The exhibits are so well laid out, organized and easy to use. Nothing was too cumbersome and it was easy to operate each experiment. I think the adults enjoyed themselves as much as the kids. We were there for several hours and didn't see it all, there are so many things to do and see. Very spacious as well. We also ate at one of the restaurants there and that added to the great experience.
This museum is great fun with kids and would be just as fun without kids! We wend with out 5 and 7 year old girls and they enjoyed it quite a bit. Some of the exhibits were a little over their heads but they had a grand time just the same. It's all hands on and interactive stuff, beautiful views and cool stuff at every turn. We spent about 4 hours there and could have stayed for another 2 (but were pressed for time). We also visited the California Academy of Sciences on this trip and there was NO comparison (the CAoS was a huge disappointment). Spend your time and money at The Exploratorium instead!
My husband and I are seniors and we enjoyed this very much. There is something for any age. Be sure and see the toothpick buildings of San Francisco. We spent 4 hours here and didn't quite see everything.
