景点印象
超出预期!门票10美元,里面有10多个火车车厢,以及整整一层的玩具模型,我不是交通迷,但展出详细介绍了150年前的铁路发展史,早年用于高端旅行,送信等,还有华人挖铁路的血泪史
I was surprized that there was so much info and how much was easy to understand and I loved looking in the dining car and Pullman cars (I was able to stand up to look in the windows), while my husband was more interested in the engines. There were only two exhibits I could not get into with my electric wheelchair, all the rest, and there were a lot, were easy to get up to. The section for children to play in can be avoided if you want to, it was very crowded and the kids looked like they loved it. I recommend it the museum highly.
I moved up here to Sacramento 37 years ago and discovered Old Town Sacramento. It was the original settlement site for Sacramento. As time went on the city grew eastward and Old town became an abandoned area. It has been restored to very nice shops and historical sites. One of the newer additions has been the California State Railroad Museum. Historically, Sacramento was the western terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad. This allowed for the transportation of goods and supplies for gold miners and fortune-seekers. The museum displays a large inventory of restored trains- from old coal-fed steam locomotives to diesel. One of the old passenger cars is rigged to feel like the train in in motion including the sounds of the tracks as well as train signals and lights passing by. It is a well worth the price of admissions to spend the day there.
It was interesting the adulst. But if you think your kids will be interested, then think again. My 11 and 8 year old boys thought it was just ok. It's a lot of money for just ok.
I enjoy going to visit this place with my nephews and nieces. There are a variety of trains on site, some where you can even hop on. The exhibits are wonderfully done. A play area for children is on the second floor and a great place to take a break after exploring. There is plenty to keep the kids occupied and a great experience for adults too.
This is a must see if your into trains while visiting Sacramento. It is the home of the one and only "Cab Forward' Steam locomotive. A rare site to see. The museum is well laid out, with lot's of history of railroading. The exhibits are nice, as well as seeing some steam locomotives up close. Highly recommended!!!!!
This museum is a must do if you have a train lover in your life. They have exhibits for all age levels. My little boy loves it, as does my father who is retired from the Railroad. The price really isn't that expensive compared to other museums. We've never done a guided tour but we hope to one of these days. We have been many times and we spend about 3 hours here each trip. If you're coming for the first time plan to spend at least a half day here. They have a small gift shop as well.
My husband was very interested in all the old engines and cars. I loved the passenger cars. Nice comfortable museum to tour.
This is excellent for all ages and very inexpensive. The museum offers an optional guided tours for the first part at no extra charge. The docent was extremely knowledgeable and since I am not one who likes to stop and read each posting, I enjoyed his stories about the early railroad days. Afterward, there is a lot to see on your own. The museum is very nice and well laid out. They have even set up an area for little ones to play with trains and expend their energy while the parents take a break. Plan at least 2 hours for this visit. Be prepared, there are a lot of steps in the main part of the exhibit hall, since you go up and down viewing different railroad cars. FYI....Food and drinks are not allowed so have your snacks before entering the museum.
They had lots of engines and different types of carriages inside, nicely restored and well-documented. At least a 3-4 hour excursion for me.
This is a must see if you are in the Sacramento area and wish to connect with its rich railroad history. Adult and young will love the fantastic collection of model trains in the upper floors. you will need at least 2 hours min. if you get into it. Then you might need whole day.
Fab museum for train lovers, really well set up and totally enjoyable experience, staff were very imformative and happy to answer any questions we had about the history of the rail wayand its part in US history.
we took our train obsessed 2 year old here . he is now 21 and still talks about it, so we revisited it this year. it was as good as we remembered..
Take your time plan for 2 to 3 hours at least , is very interesting make sure you get to all the displays including the real passenger railcar is a very interesting experience . Is a well laid out museum with the ability to hold your attention with so many different displays. Well worth the time.
If you love trains (and who doesn't!)... this is a great family friendly place to go anytime! Lots of public parking nearby as well as restaurants and shopping. There are special events happening at the Railroad Museum all the time! Don't miss this venue when you are traveling through California!
