Wonderfully beautiful drive down to it, right on the road, with a short trail to falls. Bad thing is the parking is in short supply.
A relatively modest waterfall, but very easy to get to, and worth seeing if combined with a longer hike along the River Trail to Zumwalt Meadow.
I was not even expecting these falls to be flowing given the lack of rain this year. I was so surprised to see the. Looking so pretty! I wish I could climb up and see the narrow canyon just above the falls. I just imagine the force it took to carve those canyons!
It has a nice little walk on a narrow but paved pathway. The falls were not too big when we were there due to the drought, but you could see that they would be impressive otherwise.
This is a short, paved walk with the river falls as the end. It is beautiful and was enjoyable. The best falls we saw during our Kings Canyon/Sequoia vacation. Highly recommend. There are also trails nearby for those who want a longer hike.
Easy walk in to this falls. Beautiful rocks to sit on and enjoy! Nice trail around the fAlls as well.
Very easy, lots of picture opportunities. Fun place for kids to explore the river. Falls are a little weak due the drought but still worth the time. Do it early for less crowds.
There was a nice waterfall to view here even late in the season (September) that did not disappoint. Really neat pools and rock formations that look similar to something out of Zion N.P. or something similar.
The falls are beautiful, the hike up is easy, and it is a great spot to put your feet in the chilly water. We really enjoyed putting our feet in the water and hanging out here sitting on the rocks.I highly recommend this spot for anybody who has made their way to Cedar Grove. One word of warning though for any would-be swimmers. My friend and I (both 30) attempted a swim to the falls and back. The shock of the cold water and the strength of the current made the swim very difficult. We struggled to make it back to where we started. I am not in great shape but play soccer a few times a week. I would not recommend trying to swim to the falls unless you are in very good shape. A quick dip with no attempt of getting to the falls would surely have been ok for us though.
The drought has taken a toll on this venue unfortunately. I'm sure in springtime after the snow melt it roars like Bottom in a Midsummer Night's Dream!
Roaring Falls is a very easy, paved hike to a rushing waterfall and peaceful pool - a nice spot for a picnic or simply to cool off and relax. Accessed via the beautiful Kings Canyon Scenic Byway (CA-180), total hike time from the parking lot to the falls is no more than 5 mins, and it's fully paved all the way making it accessible for all. There's plenty of boulders to sit on or scramble, take a dip in the icy waters if you're brave! Visit during late spring/early summer for the biggest water flow from the winter snow melt. Due to the ease of access, there can sometimes be a few too many people for me but that's a minor gripe. It's a beautiful spot...
Even with the drought, the falls are still going strong. We went on a Sunday morning and there were already people swimming in the pool at the bottom of the falls. This is a super easy hike to get to as well. About 1/4 mile to the falls from the parking lot. Very pretty and very clear water. Just absolutely gorgeous. Not strenuous at all.
Go ahead and stop here. After an easy hike, you'll reach these falls. Just sit down on a rock, take some long, deep breaths and soak in the surrounding beauty! Enjoy Life!
The falls is reachable by small hike. Falls are magnificent. It was quite refreshing break in hot summer day.
We went down on the rocks and sat for a bit. Very relaxing to hear the water roaring. Very easy hike to get to it, and then we went back and did an unmarked hike on the other side to get a different view.
