We stopped here because the rock appeared to be teetering. Of course, it wasn't moving! However, we thought that it would have been kind of exciting if it had - and fell away from us of course! You can get some great pictures of the optical illusion that you are holding up some of the overhanging rocks at different levels.Good meeting point if your group gets separated.

This stop is centrally-located in the park, at the turn-off to Keys View. We found it to be one of the best locations for wheelchair access. There's a quarter-mile trail of hard-packed dirt and crushed gravel that winds around and between the massive boulders and Joshua Trees. Picnic tables and restrooms are available here.

Great place to get out and climb over the rocks. There is a loop if you want to hike a trail, or you can gaze at the cool rocks, take a photo and move on. I did the later because I got to the park late in the afternoon and had very little time to drive and see everything the park had to offer.

After our lunch out of the wind we quickly explored the area and clambered on a few rocks. We had just missed the ranger lead hike so did our own thing.

We stopped by Cap Rock for a quick photo. It is a very unique rock formation. We didn't hike the .4 mile loop trail but will need to do it on next visit. You can see the rock right from the road or parking lot.

Among many in Joshua Tree, but this one is easy to get to and one of those you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it vies.

Cap Rock is located on Keys View Road just south of its junction with Park Blvd within Lost Horse Valley which epitomizes Joshua Tree NP with its vast stands of Joshua Trees and huge granite boulder piles. From the ample parking lot, the flat, wheelchair accessible, 0.4mi (0.65k) nature trail loops around Cap Rock providing up-close views of the boulder piles and Joshua Trees and is probably the best wheelchair accessible trail in the park. Here we also found some of the best non-technical rock climbing in the park with several fun, manageable routes high up the boulder piles in this area.

Leuk om te beklimmen deze rots. Deze rots niet eenvoudig te beklimmen, maar de uitzichten die je krijgt zijn wel heel indrukwekkend.
