For Joshua Tree, we think this is a pretty cool formation that is worth the walk and a bit of a scramble to get some great views and pics. Continue on to explore beyond the arch to find some other very neat formations, crevices you can walk through, framed views, rocks to climb up on, etc. Yes, you need to be able to get out and walk to get the whole picture so do it while you are able to fully enjoy it all.
Just a 0.5 mile hike to a rock formation reminiscent of an arch or the trunk of an elephant. My rock climbing enthusiasts enjoyed climbing on to Arch Rock.
Easy hike for kids. Great pictures and rock climbing! Parking area and trail head well marking inside white tank campground area. Must see. Be sure and explore past Arch Rock. Lots more cool sights, caves and rock formations.
This rock formation is not accessible by car, you must get out and hike. The hike isn't far, but if you're unable to hike, it's too far for you... and me!
From White Tank Camp Ground (Site #9) we headed out on this short trail. The arch was a lovely surprise and we were able to clamber up to it for a better view. Some great pics too.
We did the 1/2 mile loop trail out of White Tank campground (trail head/parking are across from camp site #9). There are signs along the way explaining the Geology of the area. The rocks are beautiful but the Arch Rock is really amazing. (there is a sign at the Arch to help you see it). If your pressed for time the Arch is at the end of the loop trail. The trail is very easy. Dirt road into the camp is great. It is easy to climb into the arch and across the way for great photos. I think this is one of the best rocks and photos we've seen in JTNP.
Arch Rock is a nice looking 25ft (7.6m) natural granite arch that can be viewed from near the beginning of the 0.5mi (0.8k) Arch Rock which winds one through a really nice boulder field that offers some easy rock scrambling that may be especially enjoyable for younger kids that would have difficulty elsewhere. Arch Rock trail starts across from site #9 in the White Tank Campground located along the northern portion of Pinto Basin Road.
bon il faut pas s'attendre a une énorme arche façon utah mais pour la photo c'est pas mal. ça fait au moins un souvenir.
