This trail is paved, flat and covers a large area of coast and attractions. Spots to stop and see the otters and sea life, rest in a park, shop and eat. Bike rentals are available if you want to see more. Even when I lived in Monterey I used this trail on the weekends for R&R.
My wife and I walked this trail from Cannery Row to Lovers Point. It was a cool, damp, windy day but we still enjoyed the path. Views are spectacular and we saw seals catching an afternoon nap on the beach. A worthwhile walk (or bike ride). We would love to do it again on a bright sunny day
Best trail to run year-round in Monterey! The weather is always perfect and the trail has great views throughout.
This is by far the best feature of the peninsula area, whether riding a bike or walking this is an awesome way to get around, to see the sites and to get some great excersise!
We did a round trip extending from lover's point to the wharf, about 5 miles. Perfect walk, great vistas and people watching.
We live in Seaside, and love to ride our bikes all the way from The Embassy Suites area to Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. It is a flat and easy bike ride for all ages. It can get a bit congested in the summer months....but early mornings are amazing. The fresh salt air, and barking sea lions at the Coast Guard Pier are a MUST SEE! There are coffee shops and beaches to stop at, and Cannery Row often times has live music outside on a patio to enjoy for free.
I had gone to Monterey for the Aquarium, and upon taking my morning walk, discovered it. WOW! I'm so glad I did. It rivals the Monterey Bay Aquarium.1. The Wildlife! - Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, whales, birds, some so close (but behind fences) that you could smell their fishy breath!2. Plants - they look like the ocean kelp forest crawled ashore.3. The views - lighthouses, trees, rocky coast, sandy beaches, sailing and fishing boats4. Architecture - amazing homesAnd I only walked for an hour!Bring bikes, or drive it in a convertible. I will the next time I visit, and there will be a next time!
We biked the trail from the Monterey Plaza Hotel all the way to Pacific Grove! Spectacular views! The weather was clear and warm!
Great to trail to run or bike and enjoy the great weather of monterey. Bring your bike or you can rent on in the local area, many options. The trail runs along the bay with great views to see the sea lions and the coast for more than 10 miles.
We are so fortunate to have a trail for walkers, runners, and bicyclists amidst such beauty. Pay attention to the signs of bicycle lanes where the walkers should avoid. Just move to one side of it. The trail covers a very long distance, but you can make it fit your itinerary. One suggestion is to start at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove and walk to Cannery Row in Monterey, or onto the Wharf in Monterey. You will see nature at its best!
We walked from the aquarium to Lovers Point which included going past the Harbour Seal colony where it is easy to stop and spend ages watching the seals. But don't just look over the ocean, also enjoy the buildings along the other side of the road. Makes you think you are in "Anne of Green Gables"!!
Gorgeous trail for all kinds of users, walkers, bikers and renters of the 'surreys' made for 4-6 people
Even if you do not enjoy exercise, this is the spot to get you motivated. Unbelievable views- enough to distract you from the exercise!
Having explored the town and the famous Cannery Row, walking along here from the diving centre direction through the trail is pleasant and gives the opportunity to stop at some little restaurants which provide take out also. lots of walkers, cyclists and joggers use this trail-seems popular with tourists and locals alike.
The path started a few block from our hotel and made for a gret morning stroll to soak up the natural beauty.
