The library and grounds are beautiful! The docents are all so very helpful. From the President's youth and football days to his time as a governor through his Presidency and beyond, the displays were tributes to the man. There are short videos of some of his pivotal moments. The audio tour lets you move at your own pace. There are two places with food and both of them have awesome views. Being able to walk through Air Force 1 was impressive. We even walked through Marine 1. The section of the tour that was about the Berlin Wall was a dramatic presentation. Then there is an actual section of the wall on display! All in all amost impressive tribute.
This was the highlight of our trip to Southern California. From the segment of the Berlin Wall to the walk through of Air Force One to the biography of the president, this museum is a feel great day.Nothing disappointed and we left feeling proud to be an American. Not to be missed.
Of all the Presidential libraries that I visited, this one provided the least amount of information concerning any of the mistakes or scandals in his administration. Hardly any mention of Iran Contra. Don't miss the small picture of Jane Wyman on the bottom of the first cabinet in the rooms displaying all the pictures and memorabilia. It is the only one you will see of his first wife. Nevertheless, it was great to tour Air Force One. You also learn a lot of personal information about President Reagan and how nice he was in his personal dealings with people.
I toured by myself on a Friday. I arrived late morning and quickly realized that it was a field trip day. This would have been ok, however, there were lots of groups of 20 kids with tour guides slugging their way through the exhibit. I purchased an audioguide and headset for $7 but couldn't hear any of it as the crowds, kids, and guides were too noisy. Bummer.Air Force One is very impressive, as is the classic car exhibit currently on display. The professional photograph stations are a bit touristy for my taste. I had to wait for several families to take their staged photo before I could go inside the plane. It's frustrating how they force that on you after the admission cost.I wouldn't go back again, but it was worth a one-time visit. If not for the museum, but the views, memorial, Berlin Wall piece, and gardens.
It's so nice living nearby this Presidential Library and Museum. It is a great place to visit for business or pleasure.
I am a considerable student of conservatism and especially Reagan conservatism. I did not learn very much that I did not already know. However, I still enjoyed seeing the exhibits and walking through Air Force 1 and Marine 1. The best part of the visit was the gorgeous mountain scenery that surrounded the museum.
This was an interesting view into Reagan's life as as a child, son, actor, spouse and president. Not being a fan, I left with a new respect for the man and a better understanding of his presidency. My favorite things were being able to go on to Air Force One, Chopper, the tribute to the Secret Service, his love letters to Nancy, the relationship he had with Gorbachev, and the flags for the countries he visited. We took about 5 hours reading most things and a quick visit to the old and hollywood cars on display. We also visited his gravesite on the grounds. It was not as informative detailed as other presidential museum.
Very interesting about his life. Would highly recommend a visit if you are around this area. We found it by chance from leaflets at the hotel we were staying in.The views from here are just fantastic. Being British we now know about the Resolute Desk in the oval office there is a full size replica of that office there. Air Force One a Boeing 707 in it own hanger also with beautiful views from the large glass windows. The only down side is there is always lots of school tips so lots of kids but at least there are looking at their country's history
Air Force One tour very interesting. Beautiful view from the site. The Gippers life story told here.
I wasn't expecting anything special but I was amazed by the Berlin Wall displays and the Presidential helicopter. You don't have to be a Reagan admirer to enjoy all of the fascinating exhibits. Great for kids, too as the staff is friendly and eager to show the kids around.
My sister, husband, 92-year-old WWII vet dad visited in September 2013. President Reagan was a true American. The museum's collection of memorabilia, clothing, photographs, and events is extensive. His Oval Office is complete and so is the Air Force One hangar!! People were swarming everywhere and there were many school groups, which was encouraging to see! A must-see for every American!!
The views are tremendous, the exhibits are always changing and really informative, the docents are very helpful and the grave is moving. It is a very interesting and enjoyable day out.
Had a chance to visit the Reagan Library in Simi Valley and enjoyed every minute of it. I wasn't a big Reagan fan when he was elected in 1980 but by the time 1984 came around, I (and just about everyone else) was on board for good. Not only was this place a great testament to Ronald Reagan, but it is also a time capsule of the 70's and 80's. The exhibits were terrific and there was a lot to learn during my 3 hour visit. The Air Force One exhibit was spectacular and you actually get to walk through the plane! Also, seeing Reagan's burial site, which is on the grounds was quite moving. I highly recomment this place.
We came off a cruise that ended in Los Angeles. One thing we wanted to do was to visit the Ronald Reagan Library. We are so glad we did. The location is perfect with stunning views. We picked a good day to visit as it was not very crowded. Each exhibit was perfect. Some left me laughing, others left me awed and still others left me in tears. Then there was Air Force One. Goose bumps!! Wow!! Lastly, the final resting place of the America's greatest President in my lifetime. This visit was awe-inspiring. It left me proud of what America once was and wishing it was that way again. We wished we could have stayed longer than the three hours we allowed ourselves but we had places to be. We spent a few minutes in the gift shop where there is a good amount of reasonably priced items. I would suggest that you give yourself at least 4 hours and probably more to really get to enjoy the memorial of this great man and a small part of American history.
