One of the last big screen theaters left in California for file viewing. Also has a variety of entertainment including concerts, plays, etc. Great "old time" movies theater experience. Even has the twinkling stars in the ceiling.
Feels like an old nostalgic theater, but that doesn't mean that it's run down. It has been restored and beautiful. Has great concerts!
Seating is somewhat poor upstairs. It is better than the Convention Center however. Some good entertainment but sometimes the price of ticket is very high.
My first visits to the Fox were as a child to watch Disney movies. As an adult I've attended musical concerts, comedy shows, and my daughter's dance recitals. I love attending events here. It's a lovely theater with beautiful decor. For concerts I love that it's a more intimate setting than an arena. I didn't notice any issues with acoustics.
This is a gorgeous old theater which is vintage Bakersfield. From the murals, to the old world style drapery, this is one of my favorite theaters in California. It is a perfect venue for concerts, with amazing acoustics and an intimate feel.
I just love the old feel of our Historical Theaters. I enjoy sitting in the Balconies. I've seen Sheryl Crow, Huey Lewis, Puddle of Mud, and a few others there. ;). Service is good, also has large enough Restrooms too.
In the legions of Fox Theatres located in mostly the southwest areas, this was my second visit to the city to see the same band 7 years apart. This theatre actually has been improved in that time as the lobby area appears nicer now. The seating is generally good, had no problem with acoustics myself and the design is classic and nice. Employees seemed friendly enough not that my expectations are high in that area since most are probably part timers. Without reviewing the show or the audience itself, the theatre was very nice place to see a show and lucky for Bakersfield to have such a treasure.
My first concert at the Fox was a super disappointment: The sound was so distorted I couldn't even make out my favorite song. My second concert was as a gift, and again the sound was so distorted it was all pain and no pleasure. It's an interesting place inside, but the two rock concerts I've been to weren't even music in that space. I won't go back, no matter who the artist is.
The Fox Theater is a place where a lot of big names go to gear up for there bigger concerts so it really is a treat. The venue is very intimate so there is a lot more interaction between the talent and the audience. The theater is old but classic, there are concession and a bar, although I would recommend enjoying a meal in the down town area and then walking the block or two to the theater.
We are looking forward to the next season of Flics international moviesThe theatre has lots of charm and is a Bakersfield staple
This place rocks. And groups like Styx and ZZ Top can rock the roof off the place. The Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas show was awesome, too. Brian can REALLY play guitar.
This is an old theater that has been restored. They have many shows there from comedians to music concerts. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room. It also has a balconey and the restrooms are upstairs too. Its a great place
I've been here for a performance. It's a classic old fox theater. Acoustics are good. Parking is a bit of a concern.
ince I was both born and raised in Bakersfield, I can still remember going to the "Fox" just to see movies as a child. Over the years, they have continued to both refurbish and maintain this theatre's "beauty". I have done the "father/daughter" dance performance at this same theatre over the past few years and both seen the continued overall improvements on the "outside" where theatre "goers" are place (including myself) and seen the continued "beauty" of this theatre on the "inside" where we have physically moved ourselves and children "up and down" the stairwells, help our children get changed in dressing rooms (back stage), and more greatly appreciated its "beauty" back there which automatically transforms to out there for the audience.
We saw the nutcracker over christmas and it was so beautiful!! I've never seen a real ballet and this was spectacular. Popcorn, gorg theatre, and a line out the door down the street...seemed to be THE hot spot in town.
