Have seen four shows in the last few years and believe it is one of the best community theater values around. Ambitious (Anything Goes, Les Mis) or Silly (the current Christmas show - Bob's Your Elf), the one thing all shows have in common is a talented, experienced and entertaining cast. Will become a season ticket holder next year.
This little hometown theater has caliber artists perform and terrific plays; family, dramatic, and musical. Don't shy away form the musicals- Anacortes has some talented singers. Must stop and enjoy on your way thru
ACT is celebrating its 50th year of live theatre in this great little town. With well over 250 plays behind them, the theatre is thriving. The season runs mostly on even months and presents two musicals, two comedies, a drama and something for the holiday season. Half the tickets are held by season ticket holders and the rest are available for purchase. When you come to Anacortes, see what's playing and call for tickets. In October, the theatre will present "Anything Goes" a musical comedy.
We have been season ticket holds here for many years. I must comment it it's early years ACT won a State award for giving outstanding shows and performances. I don't know if this award is still given or not, but if not it should be. Be sure and call ahead of time for tickets as they often sell out. Why drive to Seattle, Bellingham or even McIntyre Hall (unless this is in addition to ACT) when you have this talent and intimate small theatre nearby.
For a little town, the acting, set design, costumes and direction are just incredible. Sometimes we don't like the choice of play, but we always admire the way it is presented. They recently did Les Miserables. We have seen it in London and Los Angeles so we expected a let-down here. Not at all! It was fabulous. Voices, everything, just wonderful. We have season tickets so we won't miss a show. We love ACT.
Enjoyed thoroughly a presentation of "You Can't Take it With You". A time- honored play by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.Fun play put on by local Anacortes people showing that there is talent even in small theatre.Could be enjoyed by the whole family.
