Good thing I bought a Groupon for this, $6.00-two admissions for the price of one, and that was too much to pay for this. Cost me more to drive up to BI! Took my 7 year old grandson, not sur we were even there an hour. We were both very disappointed. Half of the stuff doesn't work but it seems to be a great place for single dads for the day (or everyday) and/or grandpas to take their kids and let them run. Definitely geared more towards very young children.
We've been going to KidiMu for over a year. My son loves all the displays, especially upstairs, which is very interactive. Downstairs is more geared toward role-playing. This place is real gem for families with very little ones. The max age is about 7-8. At that point the displays downstairs are too "little kid".
with my grandkids. We go to a lot of 'children's museums' in the area. This is a very nice rendition of the theme, heavy on kinetic motion and golf balls, with a 'market,' a medical facility, construction activities, and even a tree house. It's not as big as Olympia nor as extensive as Tacoma, but when you NEED an attraction like this for little ones, it's a Godsend. Right next door is the Bainbridge Art Museum (a gem of a place), a bakery, and an 'artisan' beer garden. It's a nice corner of the island within easy walking distance of the ferry.
Kids Discovery Museum is a great space for younger kids. If you're stopping by Bainbridge with young children and need to plan some activities this is for you, especially if the weather isn't great. It is also very close to the ferry terminal. The museum does reflect Bainbridge though in that it isn't a huge space, but it will keep kids entertained for 30 to 90 minutes depending on your child. If you're on Bainbridge in the summer, check out the week long camps.
It is a bit pricey but we went on the first Thursday of the month when kids can enter the museum for free. The kids loved it!
We were spending the day on the island and our Seattle based friends recommended this place. It was really fun for our son, he is only 1 year old but they still had areas where he had a blast. Definitely plan on returning next time we are in town.
For such a small town, we were quite impressed with this kids' museum. We just so happened to arrive on a special "Kids' Day" where they were having a grand opening of sorts. I believe they recently moved to a new space. The layout is well done and there is more than enough to keep a young child occupied for several hours. My son loved the treehouse and the science area upstairs. We will be back.
This was a great place for young kids with a lot of different things to do. You can spend a long time at this location and we went during the week during the middle of the day and it was perfect because it wasn't crowded at all.
It was a great place for hands on 2 and 5 and 6 year old grandchildren!Returned twice in that one day! The kids loved it so much! The place had a grocery store play area, Dr. office play area, Ferry boat play area, a construction play area, a huge hands on play upstairs area. There is a nice will day care for smaller children to play in.The elevator was nice for handicap.
Small and very nice kids museum. Our 4 &6 year old boys had a ball running and playing in the treehouse, store, bank, etc :) There is a small store too.
This a pretty nice children's museum, albeit small. Our 3 and 4 yr old girls had a blast. Be careful of the golf ball ramps on the second floor, a ball accidentally fell on my wife's head from about 4 feet, ouch! The outside bubble/water table could use some spiffing up, and some of the exhibits were broken.
My kids love this museum. There is a lot to do here. It is two stories. You can even go outside for a few things to do. There is an infant section as well. The kids enjoy the gift store. I sometimes let them pick something out for under $2.00!
My three year old loves this museum. We usually spend about 2.5 hours. We go pretty often and have the year pass.
This is a small kids museum located in downtown Bainbridge Island. The location is good, by downtown and across from the ferry. There are several little stations set up for kids to have hands on fun with real world toys. There is a bank, doctors office, grocery store, veterinarian, and construction site for the kids to play in. Everything is hands on. There is also an area for little ones under 2. Upstairs is more for older kids, there are several stations to design various tracks for pushing golf balls down. The kids (aged 5 and 6) seemed to enjoy it up there. We also noticed that there was a room set aside for birthday parties, so you can bring your own food and have the party, then play upstairs and down. The cost is $6 per person (adult and children). They offer a military discount at $5 per person. This is definitely a place to go to when the weather gets rainy...helps the kids burn off some energy!
