The new facility is going to make this a lovely venue. The retail area wasn't quite set up the day we visited but the product displayed was most wine appropriate. The tasting area is super sized so accommodates several at once. Great personal service even on a crowded day.
We stopped by this little wine cellar on our way to the local fruit orchards and fell in love with it. We did a full tasting and the lady who helped us gave us all the information on the wine we could ever need. We ended up leaving with a case of wine and were invited to the next weeks private wine tasting dinner at which we got to meet the owner and full staff. What a wonderful overall experience and we are now hooked. It is kind of out of the way but what cellar isn't. lolol. if you get a chance go up there and meet everyone while doing the full wine tasting experience.
I have been to several wineries in the Pacific Northwest and have hand picked the wines we sell in my Restaurant for over ten years. Townshend has never disappointed me, either in their product or their business dealings with me. The tastings are much more personal and the knowledgable staff is very helpful and never too busy to answer questions or make suggestions. Their red blends particularly are amazing, the Vortex is one of the best values I have ever found and the T3 is outstanding for just a few dollars more. Their "table" wines are bottom shelf pricing with middle shelf palatableness for the lower price Wine aficionado.
The wine was great and the drive to the winery was beautiful in the fall. I am planning a return trip with a few friends next year!
Not crazy about most Washington wines (probably because I've been spoiled with California wines). However Townsend is well above average, especially the T3 and Vortex Red (if you like the dry reds).
If you have never been here, you need to go let Jill introduce you to the quality wines made by Townshend!
