Small eastern WA winery which operates as a serious family hobby, but produces excellent wines year in and year out. The winery is open for tasting only on Saturday afternoons from March-Mid-december. The reds have a rich flavor of fruit with a nice balance of vanilla and mocha. Wines are served in local restaurants. Cheers
About 25 miles northeast of Walla Walla is a small town of Dayton where you'll find Dumas Station Winery. Set your gps because you could easily pass the unassuming tasting room and will be heartbroken you did. Jay and his partner, Doug, have masterfully created beautiful cabernets, syrah and merlot wines that shouldn't be missed. Out of all the fifteen wineries we visited during our stay in Walla Walla, these were THE BEST wines we tasted. Among the four of us we all voted Dumas as our favorite wine selection and their Syrah and CabFranc as our favorite wines. We called ahead and made an appointment, and had a marvelous experience speaking with the winemaker and learning about his wines. It is well worth the time and effort to do this. Very personal experience for all of us.
Plan ahead to be able to visit during tasting room hours. Fine wines served by very knowledgeable wine stewards (owners?).If you like historic train motifs this is the place for you too.
Cow catcher - really drinkable red. Proprietor very informative, other guests that day included local wine growers who shared their love of wine with us. We have been wine tasting for 30 years in the Yakima to Tri Cities area and certainly found this winery to meet our expectations and will return.
