the tav

I used to love going to the Tav; growing up in Ellensburg it is just something we did once we turned 21. My uncle, from out of town, came with me a little while back and it was a terrible experience. He is in a wheelchair - there is no wheelchair access to bathroom facilities and the staff were in NO WAY accommodating. If there was a word for how they treated the situation/him it would be 'rude'. It was very disappointing, to say the least. We ended up having to go all the way down to the Palace cafe to use their restroom. It is one thing to not have capabilities, it is another to be rude about it. Will not go back.

The college bar that I have gone to for over 25 years. I always stop on my way down I 90 in ellensburg and get a SuperMother burger and fries. Good cold beer. Good beer menu and reasonable priced. Good service and a beer garden.

The Tav is located right downtown and is always busy. In the front room there is a bar and booths with pool tables towards the back. It's normally rather loud because of the woodwork, wood floor and high ceiling and music. For a quieter visit you can sit in the back room which is actually the window front next door. It's a much pleasanter spot especially if you have a family group and want a large table where everyone can visit. The food is excellent and there is lots of it. Ellensburg is a college town so there will be lots of students. It's a great place for a weekend afternoon late lunch or early dinner.
