Nice place for the grand kids to run on the beach. tide goes way out and you can walk out about 1/2 mile on the sand . Sometimes people let there dogs run wild NOT GOOD
A lovely, forested park with miles of trails, various terrains and a nice beach. There are several large picnic shelters along the park's Puget Sound beach that can be rented by the day, and away from the water the park has many overnight camping spots for tents and for vehicles of various sizes.
I stayed a night with my brother having driven down from Vancouver, BC.It was September and was not too busy.Lovely surroundings, good plots. Handy for visiting Seattle.Yes the shower & washroom are basic, but if you want luxury you should book in at a hotel.I would come back again.
Stayed here for 5 nightstand overall was great. During the week it was nice and quiet but over the weekend it got much busier and people cannot keep there animals quiet. Washrooms could use an update and yes you do need to pay for showers. Park Ranger very nice and helpful.
We were travelling from Manitoba so we are used to treed and private campground. It was awesome to find one close to Seattle. The drive was not bad, just traffic was Terrible. The campground was clean and bathrooms were as well. My only complaint is the shower and having to pay for it. It should be a better shower if I'm paying. There was only one shower, which is disappointing.
When you think of seattle you think fishing and crabbing, but be informed before you decide to grab the pole and head out. Seattle has a regulation book about 100 pages long and you are required to submit what you caught or didn't catch within 10 days. It is also bit expensive for non residents. That being said it awesome to spend the day on the pier with locals and watch them haul in the salmon as the tides ebb in and out. We spend the day watching as crabs and salmon were caught. We caught one crab--but hey it was a big one. It had to go back since we did not have license for that. We did see quite a few salmon pulled in from this fishing pier. There are not many places to eat around this fishing pier so pack some snacks/lunch/drinks.
There are a lot of places to go and see the Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, but make sure to add this one to your list. There is a little playground and lots of room to lay in the sand or go hunting for seashells and all sorts of other things. I even found a live sea snail once!
This is a really nice little state park. It has easy access if you know the right way to get there there is a fairly large campground including pull through spots. there is a number of trails and paths The beach is fairly small but nice. One thing I really liked is that it was right near town so if you want to go out for a meal or need to pick up groceries or some other things it is nearby and you do not drive for miles and miles.
We went on a short walk to the beach. The tide was out and there was a wonderful view of the channel.
Nice but beware of the $10 charge even when you only want to stay for a couple of hours. You will like it with many area to walk and relax. Very quiet and quaint.
Nice hiking trails, camping facilities and picnic areas. This is a good place to go for a walk, play on the beach or just enjoy the views up and down the beach. The water is fairly shallow here, and the beach is relatively small, but it is always interesting to go beach combing when the tide is out and see what interesting things turn up.
Dash Point State Park is a very pretty wooded area in Federal Way with beach access. We camped over Memorial weekend 2014 in a tent in loop A. When we looked at the park website we wondered if our 9x10 tent would fit, since the reservation info said the tent pad area was 8x8, but there was plenty of room for the tent. The reservation information online should provide accurate information, or that bit of information should be left out.The restrooms were horrible. On the toilet side, for the ladies, there are 3 stalls. None of them lock. The toilets are supposed to have those sensors so they flush automatically, but two of them have signs up saying it was necessary to push the button. One sign was computer printed, one was written on blue masking tape. This is the beginning of the camping season. Everything should be in working order after having the whole winter to fix things! There are two sinks, and each has a different handle. One only stays on as long as you hold it, one stays on for a minute or so then shuts off. Neither sink is ADA accessible or child-friendly. There is no hot water. There is no counter to put your things on so you can wash your face and do your makeup. Neither sink has a decent drain stopper – I wonder how many contact lenses and toothpaste caps have gone down the drain? The hand dryer worked once then never again in the 3 days we were there. The mirrors are polished metal which would make good funhouse mirrors. The building is filthy. I realize it’s a campground and there will be a certain amount of dirt tracked in, but there should be maintenance people to clean several times a day. Those spiderwebs do not get grey and tattered in one day. There is no heat in the building. My husband said in the men’s room one of the toilets flushed every few seconds. He also complained about the lack of counter space. And the showers! In the women’s showers, there are 3 stalls. The larger one, which is probably supposed to be the accessible one, except for the fact that there is a 4-inch high step to get over into the shower, has no showerhead, no handle on the faucet, and no shower curtain. None of the stalls has anywhere to put your soap and shampoo other than on top of the token box. The showers require tokens to work – the tokens currently (2014) cost 50 cents each and you get them at a dispenser at the front gate. You get 3 minutes of hot water per token. There are benches to place your things on, but they are several steps away from the actual showers out in the main part of the room – in other words, if there is anyone else using the shower at the same time, you will be showing them everything before you can grab your towel. Again, there is no heat. My husband said the men’s showers were awful and only one of his worked. The large one in the men’s room also did not have a showerhead and faucet, and the token machine was jammed in one of the others. We each decided after the first shower that the place was too dirty and inconvenient to use again, so we waited until we got home to have a good shower. It is a fairly quiet camp at night, which is surprising since it’s right under the flight path for SeaTac Airport and in an urban area. The beach area is pretty and has a large parking lot. The restrooms there do not have locks on the doors either. There is no lifeguard but the families using the beach seemed to be keeping a pretty good eye on their kids. This would be a nice place to stop for a picnic at the beach as you are passing through, except there is a $10 fee for day use (or you can buy a yearly pass for $30). This Discover Pass is the reason we have pretty much quit going to Washington State Parks, especially if we just have a couple of hours to spend. It’s just too expensive for a couple of hours. I think next time we want to camp in the Seattle/Tacoma area we’ll stick to the KOA – at least they have to meet certain standards of cleanliness.
The Dash Point Park trail system extends sharply uphill (or downhill if you live nearby, like I do) is second to none in the area; the beach is small, but nice, with great views north to Seattle and south to Tacoma.
Great place for reflection, couple picnic or a family BBQ. We have had years of fun in & around the water. VERY shallow so super safe for children. Lots of sandy beach.
One of my favorite beaches near Federal Way. There are hiking trails , camping facilities and picnic areas . Good place to walk, play on the beach or just enjoy the changing scenery. Also good to swim as it's sandy beach or walk I. The cooler seasons. The tide goes out a fair ways here and you can always find items df interest on the beach
