Despite the name, this place is anything but disappointing.According to Wiki, this place is the foggiest place in America. So check the weather before you come. And if you do come on a sunny day, you will find some awesome views.There are two light-houses in the park, and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. To visit the L&C Interpretive Center, you will have to pay additional fees. The parking lot at the Interpretive Center isn't big, so come early during busy season. The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center complements the Lewis and Clark National Park (Ft. Clatsop) across the Columbia River. So be sure to visit both, if you are interested in the history of this area.The view at the Interpretive Center is awesome on a sunny day, and so is the lighthouse next to it. The trail connecting the two is moderate in difficulty, but worth it.Great little park!

This was our first time at this park for camping in our RV. Overall we found it to be pretty nice. Clean lots of privacy, close to beach. We did however dislike this whole discovery pass deal. We bought a pass because we thought we had to have it to camp but our nightly fee had that included but since hard to get real info doubled up. Also a little shocked at the 40 dollars on top of the pass that we had to pay to park RV, just seemed steep. Would I go back, maybe but for now looking at other parks where I don't feel so gouged.

One of the most beautiful places in the world.It's right at the mouth of the Columbia River with some nice trails a picturesque beach and you can walk out on the rock jetty and watch the ships and fishing boats come and go.Live music twice a month in the summer and camping sites.

If you live in Washington, buying the annual Discovery pass is a no-brainer!I last visited this park in 1986! Not much has changed except my perspective;)The lighthouses are very scenic. A little hiking is required, but the maps are not topographical!There are some pretty steep hills!The view is spectacular as you approach the lighthouse on the point.Leash your dogs as they might escape to the beach...which has no human access.Annual Discovery passes are available at the entrance to the RV campground.Day passes are available at the trailheads.

We loved Cape Disappointment on "the edge of the continent"- beautiful views of the Pacific and surrounding area, 2 lovely lighthouses, and some great hiking and nature viewing! It's on the Lewis and Clark trail- lots of interesting information on their travels and discoveries!**Be sure to buy the annual Discovery Pass for $30 if you're visiting Washington State, even if it's only for a few days! It's good for all the parks and a great value compared to the $10 day pass- just pay once and display the pass whenever you're in one of the many magnificent parks in this state!!!

Small jaunts on trails to the lighthouses and plenty of nice scenery. We want to return with our bikes to check out the discovery trail!

Another gem of the Pacific Northwest is Cape Disappointment State Park. Our recent visit included a couple of hours at the amazing Interpretive Center, which features not only the maritime history of the mighty Columbia River area, but also the brave men (and women) who made history there. Our younger children found a lot to occupy their attention, the teenager was totally engaged -- it was a great family outing.After the Interpretive, we decided (unwisely on my part, as it turned out -- only six months post-chemo, this was a real undertaking) to head up the hill (only slightly smaller than a mountain) to visit the lighthouse. Let me warn you -- this is no stroll in the park, but once your at the lighthouse, you'll feel like the world is at your feet. The views are spectacular, and fortunately for me, the return trip was downhill. Despite that difficult (for me) climb, Cape Disappointment is another must-visit location for our trips to the coast. Don't miss it!

We had a wonderful sunny day to get out and hike at Cape Disappointment State Park, a short hike to the lighthouse and visitor center and then through the old forest area. The size of the trees are impressive. The area is very beautiful.

We had one day to sight see, before heading back to GA. Originally, we were going to see Columbia River Gorge. But, the day we were suppose to go, the Gorge, was getting ice and bad weather in general. So, we decided to drive a little bit and check out Cape Disappointment. I am so glad it worked out this way. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous, we hiked to the 1st lighthouse and the trail is a little steep in some places but overall a pretty easy climb. The trees and ferns on the trail were lush and beautiful. Being the Monday after Thanksgiving we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Next, we drove over to the campgrounds and walked to the Pacific side to see the 2nd lighthouse. It was incredible too;) I am so glad we made the drive, it was well worth it and I would love to explore the park more if we ever return.

Great area to explore while visiting Ilwaco. This portion of the coast is pretty neat. Take a couple hours and see what it has to offer. We sure enjoyed our time here.

Over the years of vacations and traveling I have "stumbled" across various paths of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. What a treat to visit the end of their search for the Northwest Passage that President Jefferson hoped and dreamed of. I was amazed at the overwhelming amount of documentation that was produced from this endeavor. The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is a "must see" for anyone interested in the Corps of Discovery.

The unique, well engineered design of the 'Wagon Wheel spoke' camp sites, organized into Pods with ocean front access, gives the feeling of privacy uncommon in heavily occupied, loved by campers, parks for all to enjoy. This well managed state park, now featuring 'Serious Pizza' wifi, and friendly little store with rental bikes, is one of our consistently memorable stops while touring the magnificent Pacific Northwest. A popular destination for many in the area, this State Park offers all the usual expectations as well as several great picnic and fishing and crabbing opportunities. I would also recommend bird watching and beach exploration.

Difficult hike but well worth it. The views were amazing and the lighthouse was very rugged but picturesque. Just sad that North Head was closed.
