When we have some time on our hands, antique malls are a fun place to go. They are full of the history of our world, our nation and our neighborhoods as well as the places where all those fun things we left behind when we grew up are waiting for us to bring them home. This big store- where for generations native Tacomans bought the furniture that filled our homes - is full of the nooks and crannies that Finders are looking for. On a recent trip we found tiny Dr. Seuss ornaments for a tiny tabletop tree, a pair of lamps perfect for a niece's new home and enough vintage board games to keep us through whatever weather keeps us inside this winter. There is parking galore, an upstairs full of serious furniture, bathrooms in the back and a staff who welcomes you in, doesn't dog you around like truant officers and, being on South Tacoma Way, easy to find and close to buses and eateries. Go poke around the dozens of vendors, pick up stocking stuffers or the "ta da!" treasure that will make your day.
I took a run through this mall with a friend and we had such fun taking it all in. Lots to see and it's clean and organized. I bought a beveled glass and wood dining room table that must have cost a fortune in its hey day. I paid $350 and was glad of it. You will need time here. Helpful staff and divert available. Give it a go!
