We frequent Hard Row, because the wine is good, the staff is friendly, and their brand is so much fun. The facility is decked out in boudoir motif, as are all their wines and decor. Their tasting room is tucked away on a hillside above the rolling hills behind Lake Chelan and Manson. It's definitely worth a trip.
My husband and I visited Leavenworth for the lighting festival, and loved all the shops, restaurants and wine tastings... but Hard Row to Hoe was the best of them all! We are not generally big fans of white wine, but the ones we tasted were amazing! We
Nice tasting room setting and the staff is very cordial. You must go for not only the tasting but the story on how they got their name. I won't ruin it here by telling you ahead of time but their labels are based off the story line. There is a double meaning to the label as well.
Most knowledgeable interesting server near lake chelan. Great wine. Especially enjoyed the apple dessert wine-not as sweet and syrupy. Excellent with Brie and nuts. A fun place to visit and worth the drive. Make the loop around the lakes and back to Manson. Also a great bike loop.
Overall, this place was ok - a small tasting room (fee $5 - unless you buy a bottle), and a small winery. The staff person told a couple of good stories about the winery's origins. The wine menu was very small - and was almost all white wines. Most of the wine's names were sexually suggestive (I liked them, but beware if you are uptight about that sort of thing), and the wallpaper had a lot of suggestive images drawn into it as well - you've gotta look twice to see it.... (another thing that I liked, but again - beware.)
We've been to a few tastings, but this one is just very entertaining. Don't go if you don't have a sense of humor. :-) Their wines are quite tasty - we purchased the Syrah ... But the menu calls it something else. ... :-0By the way, when here- be sure to look at the wallpaper.
As others have noted, the name of this winery has a fun and interesting history. The wall paper in the tasting room and restroom lives up to the story. The real story however, should be the wines. My wife and I were fortunate to arrive during a quiet time when there was no one else in the tasting room and, as luck would have it Don(?), the winery's viticulturist, came in and we had a great discussion on their grapes. Over the years we have the chance to meet wine makers, but rarely the viticulturist.Back to the wines. We sampled a number of their reds and were very impressed. Our favorites were the 2010 Petit Verdot, Burning Desire and their red blend, Seduction.A great little winery and friendly folks.
We visited this winery today and had a great time. The story behind the name of the winery and the labels of the wines are very interesting. Take the time to get to this winery as you will be glad you did!
There was one guy there and my girlfriend and I went in to do a tasting. The man was very inappropriate. I get it is suppose to be a more "sensual" place, but we were so uncomfortable. We were trying to read the tasting notes and he took them away. He also make sexual remarks about me.So awkward.I will not be returning to this place. Yuck.
Fun winery in growing lake Chelan area. Story of hard row to hoe is entertaining. Be sure to ask wine server to tell the story. Cute decorations and nice outdoor patio.
Love the wines and atmosphere is so fun! I wasn't a fan of the reds so our server pulled out two more bottles of white for me to taste which was so much more than other wineries do - very friendly service! We previously bought a case of their sparkling wine which is so good, and this time we bought two bottles, one for me and one for my husband. Definitely will be back.
We tasted a variety of wines and the tasting price went toward our purchase. Knowledgeable and informative staff. Fun tasting room. Wines were good but not great.
the winery has a complicated but well-worth-hearing story about how it is named. The servers at the tasting bar are especially well trained to tell it well. Enjoy the wine and the story! Be sure to check out the wallpaper!
This was our second trip to this winery. Very fun atmosphere. Funny products, good wine and great grounds for picnic too.We brought our own snacks in to do our wine tasting. Bought a few bottles too.
Great wines and a fun tasting room, also outside patio where you can enjoy tasting. Super friendly staff. Pet friendly, which is always a plus for me! Highly recommend visiting, make sure you ask the story behind the name and check out the bathroom wallpaper.
