This is a great place to see the back country of Mt. Baker area. Go to Glacier Public Service Center to get updated information depending on which type of hiker (360-599-2714) you are.We were the "Normal" Hiker and therefore we would hike some of the trail (about 5 miles in). This was unbelievable in terms of photos possibilities. August and beginning of September will give you maximum mountain meadow flowers and photos. July take "Off" for bugs and not a problem. See the attached pictures for views. We had a creek close by as we walked on fairly level route for about two plus miles. Then the trail climbed and the creek got further away. The climbs were about 2 out of 5 (really mountain climbing). Where we stopped we could see that our creek was being fed by the glaciers on Mount Ruth which is one of the pictures. The views continued to be impressive. We were on one side to a steep ridge (Skagit Range) and looked across to the other ridge (Nooksack) as we climbed. About three plus miles we had gained about 1000 feet and the views were mountain meadows on both sides with wild flowers and Mt. Ruth (7115 ft).
