Love taking a long walk on the beach, sooo beautiful and pieceful.... A great place for a romantic walk...
Beautiful views of Westport. Also a nice drive to get there and admire the homes in Ocean Shores. We picked up a few of the flyers regarding homes for sale. Quite intersting. Also stoped at a couple of garage sales on the way.
Take a walk on the beach, great place to find agates - and other treasures, and to take photos. There's some erosion of the campground; the old dock has disappeared - but that's why it's so great to explore.
Glad to see the beach access was open. That is our favorite place to visit when at Ocean Shores. It was so damaged a few years ago that we thought we would never be able to go back. Sad the Silver King Lodge looks so shabby!
I find this place fascinating, and love to walk it, even on a winter's day. The surf crashes dramatically on the shore, ships passing by to Grays Harbor, huge swells which make you wonder about the dynamics of the sea. There are plenty of large driftwood logs to sit upon and gaze at the water, the day I went, mid-January, a lone intrepid kite-surfer struggling to keep upright (more or less). If you walk in about a 1/2 mile or so, you can find a stretch of the old paved road and follow it toward the woodland farther out. As I was alone, and it became a little spooky, I decided to follow the road farther in another day. A great place! And good for those of us who like solitude. If you want a bit of break from the wind, you walk over to the lee side and admire the bay. (btw, the 'bathrooms' are 2 portapotties which were well maintained as of my visit).
Had a peaceful and pleasant hike here today. It was a bit windy but not as cold so glad we brought out ski jacket. The road was a bit muddy so wear rugged hiking/old shoes and not your clean ones. Didn't see any owls or seals just a few seagulls. Overall, time well spent.
I walk this beach quite often and enjoy it every time. It is very clean ( MANY thanks to all of faithful garbage collectors). Sometimes there is a lot of sea glass...sometimes not. A lot of areas to explore and you can walk to the end of the point or around to the north facing beach. There is an outhouse, which can come in handy. Please consider bringing a small garbage bag to pick up stuff thoughtless others left. There's a dumpster at the entrance for the garbage. It really does make a difference to the visitors and especially for the animals that live there.
T'was a windy beach walk the day we visited, so birdwatching was pretty minimal (save for a mature bald eagle that skimmed right by only 20' or so above the bushes). Even in the wind, it's a very nice walk/hike. We were very happy to find virtually NO trashy debris anywhere on the peninsula. Being dressed for the weather really helps, as we didn't get chilled at all.
We explored here and enjoyed ourselves despite the strong winds. Our goal was to see what the birdlife was like here, and possibly to see a Snowy Owl. No owls this day, but we hope to return next time we visit Ocean Shores.
This place gets LOTS of wind! It is a great place to see unusual things wash up to shore...there was a huge tree being pushed up to shore by the surf...lots of clam shells and rocks to look through and smaller pieces of drift wood...i'd love to make it down the jetty but every time we go, it SOOOO cold and windy we can't make the whole trip, we are freezing! Even with lots of layers, that wind is bitingly cold...
Beautiful place to walk, sit and read, relax, and fish. Seastars are often seen on the rock at low tide. Big ships anchor in the channel until the tide is right. This is a great place to go with family as well. The only downside is that there are no amenities. 2 port-o-potties sit out near the road, no water, no anything. You may be able to sneak onto the private camping property owned by the Quinault tribe nearby if you really needed too.
This is a beautiful, easily accessible beach with the added benefit of having not one, but two Porta Potties available! (Something that most beach access areas don't have in Ocean Shores!) There is adequate parking on both sides of Marine View Drive although deeply rutted and often a giant mud puddle in inclement weather. Auto traffic is not allowed on this stretch of beach which makes it very family and dog friendly. The beach access is down a short, paved stretch of washed out blacktop with only a small stretch of soft sand between you and the surf (for those challenged by bad knees, backs or hips). To the left is Damon Point, an area renowned for it's sightings of the Snowy Owl, and to the right an unimpeded mile and a quarter of pristine sandy beach.
Found some great agates on the beach, and it was so quiet and peaceful. Get there early since there are not many parking spots. Lots of beach to walk.
If you like to hunt the shores for shells and agates this is your place! Beautiful beach area. Also campground/Rv sites next door. North Jetty not far from here maybe 5 min. & city center about 10 min drive.
This is a great place to fly a kite and have a picnic on the beach! Also just a block away you can buy fresh crab at great prices!
