DavenLore wines are the best undiscovered treasure! Off of the beaten path, and well worth the find. My favorite! Gordon has a gem in his hostess!
We had some spare time on a recent trip to the Yakima Valley, and decided to check out this winery. We'd seen their wines, but had never tried them. When we arrived, high on the ridge overlooking the Yakima Valley, there was a big party going on. Turns out it was a release weekend, with food and wine/cheese pairings, and barrel tasting. We had a great time, and came away feeling like we'd found new friends. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself. It's a much better time than a lot of the more commercial "touristy" wineries near downtown Prosser, and the wines are better, too.
My friends and I were treated to a wonderful wine-tasting experience on a recent trip to Prosser. Gordon, the winemaker himself, was generously pouring wines for us and every single one was delicious. Very reasonably priced and well-crafted wines. It's worth getting off the beaten path to seek out this winery. Beautiful views, overlooking Prosser and beyond, from the winery property too!
After touring the greater Prosser area in search of great wine, we went to one of my old favorites, Daven Lore. I had never been there before, but have been drinking their wine for many years and figured it was time to visit. I am so glad we did! A wonderful tasting (10!) and also fresh press juice. We also were fortunate enough to sit on the lawn that overlooks the valley, eat a veritable feast we brought along and drink a bottle of their finest. Great, knowledgeable and overall kind people that make Daven Lore everything a winery should be. Can't recommend them enough. Cheers!
The personal attention was outstanding - as was their wine! A bit out of the way on a gravel road; but worth the effort!
Worth the drive. Delicious wine choices I haven't tried before, and nice staff. Very nice dessert wine, Syrah Forte, and the fruit forward Malbec. There is a very yummy spicy wine starts with an Mou.... a must try and buy! Nice that the Syrah Forte was paired with a chocolate. In Napa you pay to taste, not so here, what a treat!
Tasting room staff were very friendly and helpful. Also got to speak to the owner/winemaker Gordon. The wines we tasted were very good. Well worth the drive out to this vineyard. Always nice to taste the wines on the estate rather then in a store front
Our 3rd Winery on Labor Day weeked was to DavenLore Winery in Prosser just behind downtown up the hill just a few miles. We purchased a couple of bottles of wine - Sweet Riesling 2012 $15.00 a bottle ( see pictures )Syrah Forte 2010 $27.50 a bottle ( see pictures )Great owner and very helpfull as to what other wineries we should also try in the Prosser area. They have a unique logo and a very clean business. Large barn style doors as you enter. The ower greeted us as we where about to enter. The DavenLore name comes from a combination of the names of the two owners.Their logo of a Coyote with wine in its belly comes with a cute story.....but you will have to ask the owner when you visit. They have tatoos available of their logo and are happy to apply them at the bar. ( see picture )We plan on visiting again with family and friends the next time we go wine tasting.
The tasting room staff were friendly, happy to explain the few unusually named wines, offered a large selection of tastings for only $5 pp and that cost disappeared when you bought a bottle. We purchased a wine "growler" which can refilled over on the west side with a monthly blend plus some glassware. Even though we arrived about a 1/2 hour before closing, our tasting wasn't rushed and the owner referred us to a great local Mexican restaurant. Well worth the visit. The Petit Syrah was terrific.
