The winery exhibits Southwest architecture from the outside and inside of the buildings. Very relaxing environment and pretty good wines are enjoyed. If you are in Prosser, make sure you stop here.
We really liked our experience--every aspect. We were greeted immediately and warmly by Elizabeth (?), who guessed that we were her overnight guests. She was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed talking to her. We liked the wines and were excited to take a couple home.
We had a group of 23 folks who were visiting the area from Western Washington that were out walking around and trying to decide on someplace to go for lunch. Since my wife and I had been to a couple of Desert Wind Wine Dinners, we told everyone that was were we were going. We arrived a little after noon and told the staff that there may be 5 or 6 of us out of a group of 23. No problem, they would seat us next to a reserved table for 24. Well, no sooner had they seated us then other members of our group started arriving. As you probably guessed, all 23 folks showed up! Still no problem, the staff called in extra help, moved tables quietly and had us all together in very short order.Service was impeccable, the food was wonderful, the presentation was exceptional, and the wine pairings were perfect! All of this at what we all considered to be a VERY reasonable price!!We have loved this winery for their wine and their wine dinners, now we also love them as a great place to bring a group for a wonderful lunch!!
Last weekend, my husband and I headed to Yakima wine country for a weekend stay at Desert Wind Winery. Walking in, you’re instantly ready to relax and sip some wine. The inn only has 4 rooms total, and ours, the Jean Baptiste suite, was gorgeous, spacious, beautifully designed and very comfortable. We had booked the couples culinary retreat package, so on our first night, we enjoyed a private cooking demonstration with executive chef Kristin Martilla Johnson. It was fantastic. She led us through preparation of an amazing three course meal with wines (of course). Great conversation about her experiences as a chef, Desert Wind, tips for better food prep and more. If only I had her kitchen. I highly recommend it for all who visit. We also received a tour of the winery and wine tasting. All the staff are welcoming, fun to talk to, highly knowledgeable about wine, and offer plenty of ideas on other wineries and restaurants to visit. We will definitely go back.
I love the wine here, and the tasting room is lovely. Sangiovese is my favorite, but they are almost all good and reasonably priced. Haven't tried the restaurant yet, but it looks great. The service in the tasting room was excellent.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Sacajawea room for Valentine's Day. The room was luxurious and warmly decorated. The fireplace and Jacuzzi tub were wonderful, along with the complimentary bottle of wine that awaited us in the room. Dinner was also fabulous in the on site restaurant, Mojave. It's wonderful to have such a lovely dinner and then head up to your comfortable room. The prices were on the high side, but for a special occasion, well worth it. We were very surprised during the wine tasting that we liked ALL the wines we tried. We drink mostly reds, but found that we really enjoyed their whites as well. Subtle, crisp flavors. The staff were friendly and courteous. Very professional. We will stay again!
We stopped here for lunch not to visit the winery. We had been out all morning tasting wine and just wanted lunch. Our friends who had been driving us around the vineyard decided this would be convenient and as it was getting on for 2:30pm we needed food. Three of us ordered the Buffalo burger made from Buffalo not beef - wow - so nice and tasty tender etc etc - great fresh spring green salad to go with it. Good value too.My wife had a glass of the Rufah red with her meal and a very pleasant tasting wine too. I would recommend this for lunch.
Friendly staff, helped us with additional tastings to fill out a case of mixed white wine (on which they had a special offer). Tasting fee is refundable with wine purchase. Large, open space; there is also a restaurant on premises. The tasting room is right off the freeway, so a good refreshment stop/activity on a long driving day.
Great atmosphere. Winery is connected with Duck Pond winery in Oregon - if you like Duck Pond, you'll like this winery. I didn't care for the whites - no substance, very little flavor - Hollow. If you are looking for good whites - this isn't the place. Customer service was great.
Loved all the wine as we tasted them, great conversations to go with it! Coming back for patio lunch.
The food was great and the ambiance as well. We did not do any wine tasting here, but it was an interesting place.
It says a lot that I have been visiting this winery for as long as I have. There are a staggering amount of winery options available but I love Desert Inn for its Ruah (one of the best wines in the valley), excellent service staff and available dining. One can sit and enjoy the views, do tastings, or enjoy full service in the dining area. They know their cheeses too.
This place is very beautiful and has an amazing selection of wines - everything from whites, reds, and desserts. Their 1998 Ruah was exceptional - and was a superb deal at just over $30 per bottle for this vintage wine. The wine tasting pours were generous and plentiful, and snacks were available at the tasting room. There is also a large giftshop in the tasting room all things wine-related :) I noticed that they have a lodge at the winery as well, and definitely looking forward to staying there in the future!
We've been here several times; love the Ruah wine. Once we dined and the food and company was excellent.
beautiful winery over looking the yakima river. I could image a party or wedding there.
