This is a nice tribute site.Be forewarned, you'll run into some people on the strange side here. With the legalization of marijuana, it doesn't seem like ti would be a s big a deal to come by here and be stoned, but it still is.The staff takes great care to keep this clean and clear and are good about watching for certain behaviors and helping people move along. It s a beautiful site and a must see if you are a fan.
This is a beautiful memorial to Jimi Hendrix.Pictures, lyrics and memories. Very nice and calm place.Easy to park too.
This shrine is the largest at this park; Located about 25 minutes from where Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee are buried if you are grave site hopping. One notable thing is that when you first look at the laser etched images of Jimi...you see what appears to be a red film/smudges on them---as you peer closer, you see that the many droves of women have kissed his image, leaving layers of red lipstick on his now immortalized face. The bathrooms/food I refer to are at the McDonalds across the street.
This was a surprisingly moving visit for a shrine located only about 100 feet from a McDonalds! While it is in a cemetery, it's more on the outer edge so it feels more like a standalone area. The structure is absolutely beautiful marble, carved with images of Jimi. There are also song lyrics chiselled perfectly into the grey hardness, captured in his own sweeping and youthful handwriting. It makes you feel like you're flipping through his old 3 ring notebooks, privvy to his innermost feelings. The fact that the drive out to the cemetery runs through alternating suburban and commercial areas perhaps makes the context that much more unexpected, but in a great way. And the signs, messages from his family, convey warmth. It was a very moving experience.
Jimi is a local rock god. This modest yet tasteful tribute memorializes Jimi and his family. Pro tip - feel free to bring flowers or other decorous memorial items. Just keep it clean and respectful people.
It was a spectacular grave, but nothing more than that. Renton's a fairly long trip from downtown Seattle or Bellevue, so unless it's on the way, wouldn't rush. It was kind of cool to be be able to say I visited it, however.
We visited to pay our respects on the way from the airport to our hotel - it's maybe a 10 minute detour off the route to downtown SeattleThe day we were there, there was a gentleman with a boom box playing Jimi's music, flowers all over the memorial, fans switching out old flowers for new, and visitors paying their respectsThe memorial pretty much is visible from the parking lot. It's built with carved quotes from Jimi's songs and so many lipstick kisses, they're probably permanent nowAll the locals were pointing out his family members and where they're all buried and quite helpfulA must for the ardent music fan and a fitting oversized tribute to and oversized talent.
Located in the Renton Highlands, this is easy to get to and well maintained. For the music buff or those who want to check it off their rock n roll grave tour, this is worth the respectful stop. Don't mind the Purple Haze.........
Jimi's grave site is a work of art that suits the icon resting there and his family. The cemetery itself is a beautiful setting with easy access to the Hendrix grave site that doesn't intrude on others visiting their loved ones. The grave site is sprinkled with personal messages from fans and lipstick kisses to remind you that this guy rocked! Worth the trip out of downtown Seattle!
Despite the bad weather that day, our group was able to visit and pay respects to Jimi Hendrix, a rocker who tragically died in his prime. The memorial was wonderful, and there are plenty of people that left their own tribute in memory of Jimi Hendrix, including flowers, guitar picks, hand written notes, and one person poured some alcohol on his site as a mark of respect.
That is quite the shrine for Jimi. I'm not a huge fan but the guy had talent. The site was nice. Worth seeing.
People from all over the world come here to pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix at this beautiful monument. The marble walls have engraved depictions of Jimi as well as some of the lyrics from his songs. It is a powerful statement to the loss of a very talented young man and definitely worth the trip which is only about 2 miles from I 405.
I go here every time I am in the Seattle area. The setting is really nice. It is a really calm beautifull graveyard surrounded by nature. On a nice day the view of the memorial, surrounded by purple flowers against the backdrop of Mount Rainier is just amazing.
This beautiful memorial was not in our plans but once my son discovered it was so close, we decided to visit the gravesite as he is a fan. Easy access and worth the drive.
My husband and I had the real pleasure of visiting the Jimi Hendrix memorial and gravesite in Renton, Wa just about 20 minutes from downtown Seattle. It is a beautiful memorial, tastefully constructed and it is FREE to the public and easy to access. It is a must see, even if you are not a huge Hendrix fan. I am positive you will be impressed by the love his family took in bringing such a beautiful and fan friendly experience to the fans. Jimi would be proud!
