I didn't think at my age I would ever do this but I am so glad I did. The whole experience was fantastic and I can't wait to do this again. The staff was amazing and very entertaining.
Super fun, relaxed and comfortable guides, beautiful scenery and a phenomenal experience! Easy to book online, simple but thorough safety instructions and practice course. Would definitely go again
I treated my son to a zip line tour for his birthday. I was scared to death just thinking about it, but decided that it would magnify his experience to make it a family event. He loved it, of course, and so did I, despite my fear of heights. The tour guides made us all feel so comfortable and safe. This is a wonderful and safe experience for all. And in just the right place - doesn't get much better than zip lining in the San Juans !
Would do it again in a heartbeat. The only downfall is I didn't take my phone or camera so got no pictures, but could have.
It was a little weird being picked up at the Ferry terminal instead of going there directly and parking in a lot...but go with it, it's worth it!The guides are hilarious. They're safety conscious w/o being stick in the mud spazes (Like Canopy Tours NW) and the course is the best in Washington! Before you start, you ride a short ground level test zip line to get comfortable with the feeling of being in a harness, and holding on safely. This also gives you a chance to adjust the actual fit of your harness so you can enjoy every zip line on the actual course, instead of being in pain on the first few and having to adjust along the way.The course itself is breathtaking. Great variety of zips. One line takes you over a lake, which is pretty cool. If you want extra speed, the guides will give you a push. If you're nervous, they'll help reassure you so that you have a blast. It's a great time.
I highly recommend the zip line. We all loved it; it was exhilarating to fly through the trees and over ponds! SAFTEYThis was a big concern. I was with 3 teens, not one of whom had ever ziplined. However, the gear is new and very sturdy. There were 2 instructors for our group of 9 and they were thorough in covering how to zipline and how to be safe. A guide is at each end of the line and attaches /detaches your harness to the cable. Additionally, there are 2 practice lines that everyone had to go on before we graduated to the actual course. Not once did I feel it was unsafe.SCARINESSYes, when you leave the platform for the first time it is scary. But that first platform is really low - you are eased you onto the course gradually. There were 2 intimidating parts on the course for me. First, one platform is accessed by a steep ladder (you are tethered so you can't fall off and hurt yourself) and it was a bit frightening for me to step off the first high platform. Second, there is a suspended wood and slat rope bridge. You are tethered to the cable but it is wobbly and high above the ground. I walked across with my son behind me. I would recommend going alone, pulling down on the overhead line, and bracing yourself by leaning forward. This bridge was very scary for me and I did not like it but I was the only one in the group who felt this way; everyone else seemed to be fine with it.GROUP SIZEI wish we had been in a smaller group because there is wait time. You must wait for each person to go since only one person can be on the line at a time. If I were to go again, I would try to book at an off time when the group might be smaller. According to the website, they limit group size to 8 people but we had 9 in our group. BEST TIMEEarly or later in the day is prettier when the lighting is not as harsh.WHAT TO BRINGWear shoes that will not fall off. You will be climbing a ladder and walking on a dirt path between platforms. You can carry a camera if it is secure. Don't bother with water. Wear something that will be comfortable with a harness (not short shorts). You will be able to stow a purse/backpack or anything else that is not needed in a secure bin at the outset of the tour. There is a portable toilet at the site. Lastly, you may want to bring a little cash for a tip at the end of the tour. Our guides worked really hard.NOTEInitially, I hesitated about booking this activity due to the high cost and my resistance to pay for something that I thought might be spoiling the beauty of nature. But, it was completely worth it.
Zip SJI is a good time in a beautiful wooded setting. Shaun (his very last day) and Alex were both very confident and able guides. The harness gear and the zip lines themselves all were very stout, no concern whatsoever. The first two are just training lines ... and they do very god job of instruction. After that, the rest of the lines are great fun!
We were off to a rocky start when they overcharged my credit card - Zip San Juan did the very best they could to quickly remedy the problem and actualy gave us a break for the inconvenience. Gratitude to the office staff for working it out. Our guides were terrific and made us feel very safe and the zip lining was waaay too much fun. The terrain that you fly over and through is beautiful. Our guides kept us completely informed every step of the way, definately an experience that I'm grateful that we just went for it. Definately returning.
My wife and I had a great time. My wife wasn't too sure about it but the guides were great and were able to make it fun for everyone. Definitely worth the time and money.
Having missed the opportunity to do the zlp line attraction at Grouse Mountain earlier in the week, we took advantage of Zip San Juan while visiting a friend who lives in Friday Harbor. What a blast! Matt and Brian were professional yet entertaining, and made everyone feel comfortable. There were 3 in my group and two others on our tour. My wife, who is around 60, had some concerns with climbing the platform ladder (no safety concerns because you're connected to a safety line), but the wobbly suspension bridge with wide spaced treads really freaked her out. She bit her lip and pushed forward so as not to embarrass herself. Everyone cheered when she made it across! I have to say, it's not easy to maintain your balance on the bridge, but there's no real danger (other than a possible knee scrape on the planks), so it's a mind-over-matter thing. In the end, she had a big grin on her face as she completed the finale zip line (which I won't spoil). I think she liked the fact that she challenged herself. Thanks, guys, for great fun!
