Tiny building, but packs a lot of information in it. The curators have prepared professional and informative posters in a "walking tour" around the rooms. The bookstore has a great variety of books from ICR, and as well as other curriculum. Tours are free, and there is usually cookies and cheese set out for guests staying for the power point presentation (which is also available on DVD for a donation). Guided hikes are free to schedule too. Over 30 years experience, with frequent big name creation scientists and local volunteers. Donation-based museum, pays no salaries, but offers a lot of encouragement and science learning helps. Worth every minute and penny spent!
These folks are getting sharper and more personable each time we've seen them! They are incredible...so worth the stop!
In addition to the Biblical worldview, which I very much appreciated, our host took us on a personalized tour of the area. We saw many interesting things which we were sure to miss if we hadn't had a guide. He was with us for several hours, and there was no charge! A freewill donation was an option if we chose to do so. They also had a ton of resources available, including some souvenirs, at a fraction of the price of the "official" gift shops at the tourist attractions. A good, honest business that I would highly recommend.
The eruptions of Mt St Helens 1980 Shed a lot of light on the fossil beds, and how The Flood of Noah's day changed the world. This museum is small compared to many others, but it is packed full of information that will help you understand what you're seeing when you look at the fossil beds and the upheaval of the Earth's topography. One of the more interesting parts was the new perspective on Yellow Stone Park's petrified tree forest, and how Yellow Stone Park took down their sign explaining how the petrified forest came into being, after the studies on Spirit Lake's soon to be petrified forest. There is NO admission charge, the proprietors are very friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. There are many books and DVD's available to purchase, with bonus offering for a fairly small purchase amount. The museum is about fifteen (15) minutes from I-5 Freeway, it's on your way to see Mt St Helens. Plan to spend at least 1/2 hour, longer if there's a movie scheduled.
