We stopped in on a rainy morning to check out the hatchery. We were greeted at the front door and given an in depth tour of the entire place. From the ess trays to the fingerlings to the adult coho salmon tank. The entire process was explained in depth as to how the hatchery works. We were ven able to feed some of the fish in the pond. Great experience for people of all ages.
We had a great time at the Fish Hatchery. We went in and got a couple of paper cups of food (for free) and were told that we could go out to the Trout pond and feed the trout. Loved it!! So fun and the fish were huge and beautiful! On the way back to the hatchery there is a spot where they keep the rescued Beavers and they were fun to watch too. We were told they release them out after they have been there a couple of weeks. You don't get to see a Beaver everyday!!Great time and free of charge!
very informative. found some people working at the time we visited. they took us into the mobile office they had and showed the grandkids the tagging procedure they were doing and explained the life cycle of the fish. very cool
We wanted to see salmon while in Washington, and were lucky to be staying near this hatchery. It is a hidden gem, especially for families. The various areas of the hatchery are labeled. You can see salmon, read about their life cycle and what the hatchery does, feed trout (get food in main building), and even see beavers (they are involved in relocating families to the upper Columbia River). In the main building, there are kid friendly books.
