Color so vibrant it looks fake against the evergreen of the great northwest! Woodland, Wa is about 30 minutes north of Portland. There is a Tulip Festival in Woodburn, Oregon as well, but Holland America Bulb Farms is our favorite! The tulips only bloom in Spring and the festival lasts about 8-weeks, so act quick! Although you can order flowers all year round. DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA! It may be muddy, as spring in the northwest tends to be pretty wet, but they do put hay down. What's great: Picking tulips so colorful they look like a brand new magic marker. Bright, yellow, orange, pink, and red for rows upon rows. There's plenty of panoramic camera shots. These tulips were $6.00/dozen (Spring 2014). There's a collection box to put your money in if no one is out there to collect. It's so nice to see the honor system in play. There are also a wide variety of tulips for viewing (not picking) of every color and name. And while it's a shame these beauties cannot be plucked, you can go inside and order the bulbs of the varieties that you like. There is ample free parking and there is no entry fee. They have a small store and food for sale on site. We brought our own and picnicked on the tailgate. Small garden to view in addition to tulip fields. Plenty of places to take pictures.
