The staff at this winery were pleasant enough, but the wine was just bad. I wouldn't waste your time with this one, as there are TONS of great wineries in the Yakima area.
I was excited to come to the birthday party for Bung the Dog, but while I loved being greeted by a sweet border collie and there being plenty of homemade treats for my lab, the wines were a disappointment. The tasting room staff seemed as though they were actors following a script and didn't seem to much like their job. We did a tasting in under 15 minutes and were glad to have not wasted any more time.
Bonair was our first tasting of the day; that morning we called and made arrangements to have a winery tour and they were very accommodating. It was just fabulous! Bill (our Tour Guide, as well as the winemaker of Vineyard!) was so knowledgeable, answered all of our questions and showed us everything. We were very impressed and had a wonderful time. We enjoyed our tasting and Bill joined in on the tasting as well. It was very evident he is passionate and truly loves the wine, as well as the consumers. We cannot wait to go back!
My husband and I drove from Oregon to Yakima (3+hours) and this was our first winery stop. We stopped here first because of all the good reviews we read here!We have visited wineries many times and generally enjoy the interaction with the folks there. Unfortunately, our hostess was more interested in counting the amount of wines we tasted than having an actual conversation with us. We were the only people in there and in the end, could not wait to leave. Fortunately, the rest of the Washington wineries we visited were far more hospitable!
This winery has a lovely location and we visited it on a tour. We ate lunch here and I enjoyed their dry Gewurztraminer. I wish that it was not as crowded because we did not get a chance to learn about the winery itself or its wines because there was only 2 people working and they had their hands full.
We've been here several times. They are one of the friendliest wineries in the Yakima valley. The wine is awesome, they have fee based and free tasting, live music on some weekends in the summer. An awesome pond with ducks and fish, outdoor tables, and a picnic area. It is very family and pet friendly. They serve lunch on weekends... pannini's, tapa's, etc., or it's OK to bring your own picnic and buy a bottle of wine from them, and enjoy the outdoor surroundings!! A must do for a visit to Yakima.
We had a very nice lunch here picnic style with wine and it was fantastic. The staff gave us nice glasses and the atmoephere by the lake was very nice. Recommend a pic nik style wune lunch here wuth thei Guvertz any time
The Cab Franc is amazing! We arrived a few minutes before closing and they happily stayed open past closing time! Beautiful grounds with a pond and lots of ducks.
Great winery, so pretty. The tasting room is really pretty and the people are always very nice. There is a beautiful pond with fish and swans. The adorable dog Bung greets you at the entrance, he is so sweet. They have a large selection of wines in red, white and sweet wines. They have very reasonable prices and it is always a good time and experience.
Their wines are a bit high in price. The Chardonnay was deemed "best in the valley" but had a bit of a bad after taste. Not as crisp as advertised. Their reds are where they excel. Very well made with good nose and smooth finish. Small store with some unique tee shirts, very funny. The pond and grounds are very relaxing and well maintained.
Great wine, good value for the dollar, very friendly and generous owners and a view to die for. If you want to get married at a winery, add this winery to your list of possible locations.
The grounds were beautiful! A very nice estate with a pond and picnic area. The wines were pretty good, but most were too expensive for us. We ended up buying a bottle of the Sunset, which is a rose. I can't wait for the sun to come out in Seattle so I can enjoy it! I would recommend stopping by if you are wine tasting in Zillah.
Although your car gets dusty going down their road, they have a very lovely facility, including pond. A small gift shop and friendly staff. The Bonair Chardonney is a great taste, especially for the price -- it has become our house wine
Shirley's husband gave us a nice tour that was interesting and informative. Shirley then gave us many many wines to taste. The grounds are also very nice.
This was our first time at Bonair. We had had their wine for the first time the night before at Gasparetti's in Yakima and were pleasantly surprised. The setting was quite lovely, with a walk through the vineyards to reach the tasting room, set by a sweet duck pond and picnic area. To be honest, the wines were not fabulous. But we have high standards in wine. However we were very impressed by the vaue of their table wine, named after their winery dog, Bung. At $6.50 a bottle, it was a great buy! They were also very kind to our 4 yr old daughter, giving her food to feed the ducks and fish, which kept her happy a long time. Overall, a very nice place to visit.
