Lots of viniculture history, very good tour with free tasting at the end. They have a big gift shop, but aren't pushy about it. The grounds of the property are lovely, there's supposed to be peacocks there, but I didn't see any. The free tour takes about 40 minutes. There was not production going on during the tour, it was Friday and apparently not available.
Other large wineries we've visited have been very impersonal. We found the Chateau to be quite the opposite. We were greeted pleasantly at each door we entered. The tour was informative although it didn't really show too much of the inner workings. Hint: Take the tour and the tasting is free.
We had no idea that only 15 minutes from Kirkland is Woodenville; a must see if you like to visit wine tasting rooms. We went to Chateau Ste. Michelle and were pleasantly surprised. The staff are great, kudos’s go to Rudi who gave a great tour! The grounds and chateau are beautiful.
A very beautiful winery with deep historical roots. My private tour guide 'DeDe' was amazing. She knew so much and was much more than a narrator. She answered all questions with confidence and expanded on various topics I questioned her about. The wine tasting was amazing and DeDe was very charming when it came to explaining the proper way to enjoy wine. I would definitely recommend the wine tasting tour at Chateau Ste. Michelle. It is definitely worth the stop.
A local resident recommended the winery tour. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable people. We arrived early on a Friday morning and ended up with a private tour. (They are free.) Michelle was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed chatting with her about wine in general and Ste.Michelle in particular. We discovered the breadth and depth of their wines. There is a free tasting after and she tailored it to our tastes. We discovered that there's a lot more to Ste. Michelle's lines than what we see at the local Safeway. There are some lovely, complex wines available. We also did a tasting of their joint venture with an Italian winemaker. The tasting was $20 a person, but the Cab based vertical tasting was very nice. The vineyard is well worth a stop.
A beautiful venue with great grounds. Wonderful winery, great tastings in a perfect setting. Summer concerts are held on the grounds. Large gift shop with many local treasures. A must see venue! Buy some wine to take home.
We love this venue for summer concerts. It is the best venue for sitting on the lawn, enjoying Chateau Ste Michelle wines and having a little picnic of items we bring while enjoying amazing musical artists. Nothing beats it.We are long time members of the wine club. We usually enjoy the complimentary tasting for club members when we pick up our quarterly wine selections. The have cheese/crackers/etc available for purchase in the wine shop, or you may bring your own as we do. Overall, we have been very satisfied with Chateau Ste. Michelle's wines and have been extremely delighted with the concert venue.
Chateau St. Michelle has a nice brief and educational 30 minute tour followed by a nice wine tasting. The wine tastin has a small fee.The wines are fabulous and many are only found at the winery. You can join their wine club but there is a waiting list. It's well worth the wait?
What a slice of elegance soo near Seattle city. The gift shop is great, the buildings are stunning and the grounds are beautiful ! Of course the wine is excellent !
The wine tasting here were $10 per person. That is more than I am used to paying. They did give 15% off if you purchased anything though. The wine was very good, the gift shop quite nice, and the grounds were lovely. I am told you are allowed to picnic there in the summer when the weather is nice.
If you are interested in the production of wine, then this tour will float your boat. It's one of the better tours, you get to go inside the tank room, see the bottling line when they are actually bottling, and see the barrel rooms. Then you conclude with a tasting which is always welcome. Very nice grounds with well kept gardens and trout ponds. The summer concert series is a blast here, you can drink wine while enjoying the music. Highly recommend.
Brought here by local friends and what a great choice it was. We were a little surprised that you had to pay for wine tasting, but now realise this is standard in many countries but that is where any complaints might stop. The place was very busy yet the lady responsible for our little group could not have been more attentive. Being used to Australian wines we needed a little more explanation which she was more than happy to give, giving us wines to taste which we normally would not have tried and finding them very much to our taste. I can't fault the place, I just wish we lived in the area so that we could come and visit some of those concerts we saw advertised happening over the summer.
The hosts are very knowledgeable and friendly and the wine tasting area is very well done. Recommend the tour Col Salere Bottega, which requires reservations and is $20.The garden is outstanding, but not a lot of variety in the plantings. Wine choices are decent and you get a nice pour.
It was a very rainy November afternoon when we visited Chateau Ste. Michelle. A perfect day for wine tasting and shopping! Chateau Ste. Michelle is a beautiful venue located in the middle manicured vineyards. There is a hotel, private tasting room, public tasting room and wonderful seasonal gift shop. They offer winery tours as well as tasting. At one time couples could hold weddings here, but no longer. The women serving for the wine tastings were friendly and knowledgeable! The wines were very good. ($10.00 to taste your choice of 4 wines from a provided list.) It was fun to leisurely walk through the extensive gift shop while tasting wine! I want to return during the summer when concerts are performed in the outdoor amphitheater!
We came here for a bachelorette party and the bride-to-be wanted to do wine tasting. The tour guide was great. Did a quick tour and we learned a lot about the winery and WA wines in general. They were very nice and totally made me feel comfortable asking stupid questions haha. We went right before summer so it was a little chilly out. Would go again in the Summer to sit outside and have a picnic. They also do concerts outdoors in the summer and that looks like it would be fun!
