Nice staff. Surprisingly nice reds. Right across the street from C, St. Michelle.Popular wedding site in spring and summer.
One of the original wineries in Woodinville, the winery and tasting room are lovely. The tour in the barrel room is pretty modest but interesting nonetheless. The tasting bar is very large and they offer a good selection to taste from. A nice visit.
We visited Columbia after years of drinking their wines, and we walked out with 2 cases and a wine club membership. The treatment we received here was far above average. The staff was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about their products. Unfortunately this isn't a winery, but rather a tasting room and event center, but we would absolutely return.
Based on reviews, my husband and I decided to stop at Columbia Winery for a wine tasting. They have a nice sized tasting room and they were busy on a Thursday afternoon. We seemed to get a little better service and attention when we asked for information on becoming a wine club member. We were impressed with the red wines and the club membership so we joined the club. We came back to the winery on Friday for happy hour from 5p to 7p and enjoyed free tastings (with our membership), a $5 cheese plate, $5 cheese flatbread and $8 jambalaya. Everything tasted great and we had a great time. We would definitely recommend a stop at this winery!
The Columbia winery is across the street from Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. This is a nice place to stop and have a quiet glass of wine, however it is just a store and tasting room. The place was pretty empty, which was a nice break from the crowd at San Michelle. The lighting was a bit bright, would be a bit nicer a bit darker. Also, I prefer Ste. Michelle wines to Columbia as well.
Cute little place from the outside, but a little sterile inside. We did not love any of the wines. I suppose it's worth a visit if you're in the area, but we were not impressed. It's walking or biking distance from Willows Lodge.
It's taken me a couple of months to get on to writing this review but it has certainly been on my mind. We visited three wineries in Woodenville and this was the last, and by far the best of three.I feel terrible but i have forgotten the name of the man who gave us the fantastic experience in your tasting room but he really was an asset to the company. We learnt not only about the wines but about the history of the company and he even showed us a map of where the vineyards are.I am in the wine industry in New Zealand and was very excited to try some Washington wines, we had some spare time on my trip and decided a morning wine tasting would be just up our alley. Started at Chateau st Michelle, wines were nice but unfortunately our host was new and didn't really have the knowledge or confidence to quite conduct the tasting for what we were after. We then went to another around the corner, a combo of two wineries, there was no point even bothering to remember the name, wines were average and the people disinterested. But Columbia was fantastic, they recognized we knew about wine and wanted to learn about theirs and it was great, there was other people at the bar and the hosts managed their time very well between all parties. I loved all the wines and would have bought more if I had any room in my luggage!. I settled on a Viognier and a Cab sauv and I am very excited to open them when the time is right, to reflect happily on my memorable experience and share the great product with others here in NZ.Thank you,
Our tasting here was really great because we learned a lot about Washington wines in general and Columbia wines, too. Michelle was very knowledgeable, was able to answer a lot of questions, not just tied to a script. The wines were better than average.
Was not very happy going here, no tours and did not feel the selection of wines for tasting was very good at all. Would not go back here.
I participated in their tasting and was disappointed. I only liked one of the wines that were sampled, with the others lacking depth and being a little too sharp. The Chateau Ste. Michelle winery across the street had a free tour and tasting, with a much better selection of wines to taste in their sampling area.On the plus side, they had a food truck setup outside with tasty food, accompanied by a live band.
From the service we received walking into the tasting room to the grounds of the facility this winery is a step above the others. I felt like I had my own personal vintner talking to us about the various wines. The other draw is that these were all private labels without a large distribution so I felt like every bottle I tasted and bought were unique to this visit.
We're from San Francisco, and, let's face it, Woodinville is not Napa and never will be. However, this picturesque winery is definitely worth a visit. We visited on a cold rainy day. After a wine tasting and purchasing some excellent Pinot Gris, we sat by the fire in the center of the tasting room with a glass of wonderful Cabernet and a light lunch. A totally pleasant experience.
The advertisement read "Join us Sunday, May 11, 2014, for an exquisite Mother’s Day meal, live music, Columbia Winery wines and sparkling cocktails" This description, the fact it was being held at a winery, and the $50 cost; one might assume that mom would get a glass of wine. Nope! Not even a mimosa, $6 - $8 per glass. The event claimed to be "sold out" more like "over sold out". It was extremely crowded, we were all packed into a medium sized room with zero ambiance. The food was average, but the lines to get it literally went out the door. Our waitress disappeared after one round of drinks, never to be seen until we wanted to leave with our additional drink bill. The only good thing about the afternoon was the solo guitar player.
We went there with some family from out of town. We all really enjoyed our time here - there was music - wine tasting - food available to purchase, etc. If we lived closer - we would join and go more often! What a great place to go on a date!!
Not much else to say. We stopped here to kill time before our reservation at Chateau Ste Michelle, which is just across the street. The building is huge and beautiful, but its just a tasting room. The wines were ok. They had just opened and weren't busy, but service was still lacking a bit and sort of slow until they traded out employees. The gentleman that was first serving us was definately not thrilled to be there, but then the girl that replaced him was much more friendly and enthusiastic. All in all I left uninspired.
