Not only are the trails lovely, they are far away from the city so that it feels like I am back home in the country. I will be back, most definitely.
My husband and I brought our motorcycles and rode at the ORV park in 7 mile. Beginners or experts could ride these trails. Don't forget your discovery pass, or buy a day pass at the park. There are also heated bathrooms there.
I started boarding here a little over two months ago and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else! I have been to many places both fancy and not but this place is not only run on a beautiful property that is very well maintained it has all the amenities that any horse lover dreams of. The trails start almost directly off the property with many more activities on site. The couple that own this property make all of it even more comfy! They keep you well updated on how your equine friend is doing and are always ready to answer any questions you might have. They make the barn feel like home and are always out doing themselves with more ways to improve yours and your horses live and daily experiences with no judgement or drama. Best barn I have ever boarded at hands down.
While my wife and I were on vacation in a Spokane we signed up for a two hour horseback ride with Spokane Trail Rides as a way to share an experience with our son who just moved to Fairchild AFB. We haven't ridden horses in a while, so we were excited but apprehensive. Jan met us and immediately put us at ease. Our guide was fantastic. She introduced us to our horses, got us settled and led us on a trail with spectacular views of wetlands (yes, in Spokane!) while surrounded by Ponderosa Pines from above, then we worked our way down the trail to watch Herons and other wildlife as we worked our way back to the ranch. My horse was huge, gentle, stubborn, calm and very patient. My wife's horse was a cream colored gelding that really connected with her, and my sons horse was also amazing. It turned out to be the highlight of our vacation. I highly recommend Spokane Trail Rides if you want to get a little taste of the old west adventure without a lot of risk. It was a great experience I look forward to doing again next time we get back to Spokane.
I discovered Spokane Trail Rides in Sept/13 and couldn't be happier. I lease a horse and also took my daughter for a trail ride. It has all been amazing. The freedom, scenery and serenity of nearly 700 acres of trails is incredible. I love the lease option as it gives the opportunity to ride without all the responsibilities of owning a horse. Jen is extremely horse savvy, patient and knows how to convey her knowledge in an incredibly comfortable manner. I love this place.
Near Nature , Near Perfect . Spokane Trail Rides and Horse Boarding. Although I live in the city I often wish I had the time to live in the country. I found just the way to do that with Spokane Trail Rides. Before I was boarding my mare out on a wonderful cow farm that was a 100 mile round trip, just so I could spend a few hours with her and teach my kido the joy of non city living. Now that I have moved PG in to town so to say, ( 10miles vs a 100) I have been able to go out and enjoy a ride as often as I would like when I would like. Jen the owner has helped me immensely with the issues PG had when I got her but never had the time or knowledge to address. She even introduced me to a bit-less, non-hackamore bridle that my mare has responded really well too. Jen has brought about a wonderful addition to the Spokane area embracing the city's slogan of " Near Nature Near Perfect" by taking a closed down horse racing facility and turned it in to a affordable choice for locals to board and for out of town visitors to take in a wonderful view of the the most choice trails available around a local nature preserve, where depending on the time of year and day you might see anything from a blue crane to a moose getting a drink of water with its calf at sunset. You can also take a tour of the chickens, mini cows, lamas, barn cats and the ever special wandering Dudley the donkey..<3 you will have to see him to understand. She also host a monthly bonfire where the boarder get to spend time talking about their horses and sharing laughs over toasting marshmallows, while the kids play tag in the dark, under a non light obscured sky perfect for going out and seeing what the real " Milky Way" looks like or take in a meteor shower that is sure to bring out a ohh and ahh in every one. She runs a wonderful horse farm, and is always happy if you want to help out around the place ( Farm work is never done ) or even if you just want to come do your thing and go she is more then happy just to say Hello. All the other boarders are also so friendly and everyone helps out if it is needed. I am so HAPPY to have found Spokane Trail Rides and Jen. My whole family enjoys our time our there.
Jen at Spokane Trail Rides is a great guide! She is unbelievably knowledgeable about horses, and will make sure to match you with the horse that is right for your needs. Have little to no experience? She'll put you on one of her big, gentle Percherons; you'll feel comfortable and totally safe. She also has horses with more "get up and go", if that is what you are looking for. She truly has a horse for every kind of rider. Spokane Trail rides is located next to the James T Slavin Conservation Area, an 800 acre wildlife preserve with endless trails all open to horses. This is where you'll go on your trail ride. It's not unusual to see tundra swans, several varieties of water fowl, coyotes, deer and even moose. We've been out there in every season, and it is always beautiful, different every time. It is a truly special place to ride. For a truly unforgettable experience, go in the late afternoon, so that you are out there at sunset. It is magical. Spokane Trail Rides is something we love to do when we have out of town guests. It's a great way for them to experience our beautiful area, and everyone has just RAVED about the entire experience. Whether it's a romantic ride at sunset, a girls' day out, or a day with your family, Jen will take great care of all of you.

I use the trails all the time to walk dogs and ride my bike. The trails have lots to offer to anyone who uses them. If you are into riding bikes you can ride a short distance or go to anyother city. There is the river that you get to ride along so the sits are beautiful. It is beautiful and relaxing.
I rode a Percheron Draft horse and had a wonderful time. He was steady and trustworthy, and HUGE! LOL Jen gave me some good advice and instructions before the ride, and we had a beautiful ride through fields and forests.
Had a wonderful time. Jen was patient with all of from novice to experienced. She helps you to understand how to ride. She helped in taking group photos so we would have some memories to treasure. The horses were great and responded well with each of us. Beautiful area!
I have boarded my horse with Jen at Spokane Trail Rides for several months and met her several months before that. I have been very pleased with my experience so far. Jen is knowledgeable and helpful. She acquired the facility in horrible condition and has worked very hard on improvements. She cares about her boarders and their horses a great deal. In response to Matthew D's review.....he is obviously a competitor or a boarder who didn't follow the terms of his contract and is vindictive. I don't know what a "fake" receipt is or what purpose it would serve! In addition, Jen is not married so the claim that her husband wrote a review is just plain ridiculous.I would recommend Spokane Trail Rides to anyone!
Loved the trail ride, gorgeous views of lake and surrounding scenery. Well behaved horses not nags at all! owner is very proffessional and kind. Best trail ride of my life, my family and I will definatley go again very soon!
