Foundry Vineyards was an exciting and new take on the traditional wine tasting room. Foundry Vineyards has a pristine and interesting art gallery / sculpture garden, in addition to fantastic wine. We loved walking among the sculptures and sipping our wine in a relaxing and fun environment. The winemaker and staff were knowledgeable about both the art and wine, and were happy to chat and discuss all things Walla Walla. 10/10 Would definitely go back.
We visited as part of a tour group. The wines were quite good and the owners were there to explain about them. The tastings were generous. There is a considerable amount of artwork throughout the building plus more outside. We didn't see any that suited us.
The wine is really (as in very, very) good, the art varied and super interesting (have a glass of wine in the sculpture garden!), and the staff knowledgeable and friendly. This was a real treat, and we look forward to visiting again. Highly recommended!
The staff are friendly, the wine is delicious, and there is an added bonus of art to view as you sample the wines!
Foundry Vineyards is simply awesome! The wines are delicious, the art is spectacular and the two together make for about the best winery experience you can have. The staff are also wonderful and we have been consistently impressed with all the wines since our first visit a couple of years ago. We returned again in June and can't wait to plan our next trip. Do yourself a favor and visit Foundry Vineyards- you will love it!
We enjoyed tasting the wines while having the opportunity to appreciate a variety of fine art types in the tasting room, reception hall and outside. The wine steward was knowledgeable and friendly.
We were at the Foundry Vineyards for a wedding reception and also for a graduation celebration. They have an outdoor patio area that is a great place for wine, food, conversation and games. Their indoor gathering area is also an amazing place for a group, large or small. The addition of art/sculptures only adds to the wine tasting experiences. If you are coming to Walla Walla for wine tasting be sure to put the Foundry on your list of places to visit.
Although an appointment had been made, well in advance of our visit to 'Foundry Vineyards', we were shocked to find all doors of the winery closed, and no one in sight. As we were about to leave, having patiently waited for 20 minutes, we had the good fortune to come across, Justin Basel, winemaker at Foundry Vineyards. He was kind enough to take us on a brief tour of the various areas, where a stunning collection of sculptures, works of art, and other artisan artifacts had been tastefully displayed. Apparently, this modern winery had been created, not only to fuel bodies and minds, but also to nurture inspirations. In such a charged cultural environment, it was not always easy for us to focus on tasting the wines poured in front us. On completion of our task, we mutually agreed that Justin's Cabernet-Sauvignon, 2010, had our preferential vote. This wine (96% cab + 4% petit verdot) appealed to us for its sense of elegance, refine style, good structure and length, intense berry fruits and lashings of plum.Justin, a very grounded and skilful winemaker, should be commended for crafting wines that primarily characterize regional profile flavors and terroirs. There are already too many winemakers, in this part of the world, who are trying to emulate the styles of Bordeaux and Rhone wines. There is no need for that, as Washington State has great terroirs, beautifully tendered vineyards, grapes second to none, good weather conditions and up and coming winemakers, capable of crafting award winning wines that characterize the different AVAs of the state. We recommend that you visit this modern winery. However, ensure, on the day, that the doors will be unlocked before your arrival!Swiss visitors. May 2014
The white on white wine from here is a great drinkable summer treat! There is a lot of local artwork and a really modern feeling tasting room.
As others have stated, this is a one-of-a-kind wine tasting experience in WaWaWa. Squire Broel was an outstanding friendly and informative host to our party of eight (and served us on short notice). The space and courtyard are amazing. The art/sculptures are world-class. And the wines are top notch. This is a don't miss.
We tasted their reds and enjoyed them very much. The art was unique and interesting. Friendly and easy to find. We attended a banquet there too. Fun place.
When you spend a few days visiting wineries, the visits can kind of start to blur together - not in the "oh, I've had too much to drink" sense of blur, but the sense of similarity among many of the wineries and tasting rooms. Our visit to Foundry was one of three winery experiences that really stood out for us (in a good way). The tasting room is in town, near the foundry; makes sense since Foundry Vineyard was started by the owner of Walla Walla Foundry, Mark Anderson, and Squire Broel, an artist who began his career as a patineur at the foundry. The tasting room includes a large gallery space and sculpture garden. All three areas feature original art well worth a visit on its own. We met and spent time talking with Squire Broel, the artist/co-owner, and Ali Mayfield, the winemaker. The wines we tasted were very good; Foundry doesn't make a lot of wine or a lot of different types of wine, and what they make is special. Ali and Squire were interesting, informative and fun to spend time with. We left with some of their wine and hope to repeat the whole happy experience in the future.
Squire Broel, one of the owners and actually one of the artists who exhibit at this great concept Art and Wine is great..so enthusiastic and genuine. He went out of his way to spend time with our party, explaining the wine and the beauiful art . Foundry Cabs are excellent..we will be enjoying them for a while!
The foundry is down the street; the tasting and art space is awesome on a sunny day; sit outside and soak it all in
Well priced, quality wines and friendly tasting room hosts! Dianna and Steve
