Beautiful. Serene. But vandals have tagged it & broken necessary iron railings. Needs tlc to be excellent once again.
Located on the river in Leavenworth, very close to downtown, this is a chance to do something less touristy than visiting the many (neat) shops. We particularly enjoyed Blackbird Island.
We spent a bit of time each day we were here in January a couple years ago with our dog walking the trails of waterfront park. Easy access near our hotel (Obertal Inn) and a nice walk, even with snow and ice. It was neat to see the cross country skiiers using the park so much also. If you want to walk along the park and then head up to the main street in town and walk back to your hotel it is very easy and convenient to do so.
View, but spring thaw was here with mud and mush on the trail to river. Friends loved my photos of the peak overlooking the river with afternoon sun on flowing water. Worth trip penguin walking over some icy patches and mud to get to bit of beach
The park itself is very nice, but there was a bit of snow on the ground and it was pretty muddy. I do love the walk, though.
You can combine three parks to make a great little running loop. Pretty, quiet, is dog friendly I think.
This is a really nice park. It has a nice path for a winter walk down by the river. It is really pretty with the snow on the trees and the fog floating over the river. The park is about three blocks from highway 2 behind the shops and restaurants, follow the signs.
The park was beautiful in the snow. I had walked there from downtown on a snowy December day. There weren't too many people there in the early afternoon. We took lots of picture by the river and with the big trees. Its really scenic here. The river, trees, and mountain are all visible. This park was one of the high lights of my trip.
If you happen to be in Leavenworth Washington don't miss the waterfront Park! bring your camera its absolute beautiful
We walked through the park in the snow, it was beautiful and a great place for family or kids pictures.
Great place to walk once you're down with the shopping and crowds and rich-but-delicious foods! The walk is nice, fairly flat and level, there's a play ground for the brats and a plenty of room for them to run off their nearly endless supply of energy. We do it every time we go. Also check out the bridges that lead to Blackbird island! Some dude just made every dating-but-non-married guy out there look bad by proposing to his fiancee on one of the bridges that lead to Blackbird Island. There's a little commemorative heart shaped padlock with their names on it. Congratulations Brianna and Trevor! I'm sure Leavenworth Parks and Rec appreciates you two. But don't you mind them one bit, romance knows no bound! Dating dudes, fair warning, if you take your girlfriend there, she'll see that damn padlock and it'll put ideas in her head....
I had been to Leavenworth many times before and never explored the waterfront park. It was a great way to step away from the crowds shopping during the days of tree lighting weekends. Well marked and beautiful snowy views.
Met lots of dog owners who were friendly and also enjoying the outdoors. A great city walk to breath fresh air.
We walked the island and were pleased by the beautiful, snowy surroundings. It was nice that there were signs explaining the origins of the island. We also were able to read the signs regarding the plants and trees. It was a good walk!
next to the river, great trails, lots of water fowl, very pretty in the snow close to town, great place to walk the dog
