You don't have to be a student to play here but it gets a little pricey if you aren't. Extremely well kept and definitely worth the money though. There are 5 tee boxes so plenty of options for everyone. The Orange tees (the tees go Orange, Purple, White since those are Clemson's colors) are the tips and they make for a VERY long golf course but the white tees are very reasonable for the average golfer and the gold (senior) and red (women's) tees take all the long carries out of the golf course if you're worried about having to fly the ball long distances. Lots of options and it's a fairly forgiving golf course with some huge fariways and greens but that doesn't make this golf course easy. Lots of well placed bunkers and water with plenty of fun holes mixed together with the traditional ones. The best holes are the last 6, they are along the lake and you get some great views and some tough carries. Best time to play 17 and 18 is right about at sundown, great sunsets over the lake. Don't take it to seriously on this golf course unless you're playing during the week before students get out of class (~230 usually) because on weekends the one downside of this golf course is that it's the only golf course in Clemson and it gets SLOW. Still fun to play though, just avoid peak hours.Side note for anyone who hasn't played here before, the flags are the same as the tees orange is back purple is middle and white is front. Hope you read this before you play or you WILL BE confused!! Also, orange and white stakes in the fairway are 150 and purple and white is 250, the orange and purple stake on #9 is the only 200 yard stake on the golf course (Land your tee-shot to the left of it at the top of the hill or you will have a VERY long shot into a tough, crowned, green, if you miss your drive left of the top of the hill you're probably in the creek).

I was invited by a good friend of mine, and Clemson Alumni, to join him for a round of golf here at the Walker Course. I have to say that it was a very nice facility and course is very well kept. I think the layout was awesome and challanging. Greens in great shape as you dont see to many Bermuda greens that well taken care of. Cant wait for an invite back.

Such a wonderful vacation this area is a must see the whole university is a great sight for several reason you can see a lot minutes apart the grounds were amazing

Thoroughly enjoyed the course and the challenges presented. Greens are in great shape, the views are great and facilities make a trip here worthwhile.

I love to play this course as often as possible. It's the best maintained course in this area and had won numerous awards for collegiate play. It is a little more expensive than other courses in the area, but the condition of the course along with the views (several holes on the back 9 are lake-front) make it worth it. If you like a nicer, more challenging course with amazing scenery than this is the course you want to be on.

This course is always in good shape and is quite challenging from the back 2 sets of tees. The day we played it had been raining all week so it was cart path only for the carts which meant slower than usual play and lots of walking. The first hole was a bit soggy but the rest were fine. Greens were in super shape and they are quite large compared to most courses I play. Beverage cart sevice was a shade sparce. Saw the cart once on the front 9 and once on the back. The bathrooms were out of service in the clubhouse so had to jump over to the Madren Center next door to use bathrooms prior to starting. If you don't keep the ball in the fairway it can be a punishing course. Unfortunately a t-storm came up and we were not able to complete a couple of holes onthe back 9. Love the course and will play it again.

First of all, the April reviewer should know that if he were on the PGA, he'd have been penalized two strokes for missing his tee time. Sorry - show up a minute late, you're late. You can't fault CU for that.Now, the course. Last Thursday was a spectacular day weather-wise, with a great view of the Blue Ridge from the driving range. The course was in great shape, although the greens were a bit slower than I expected. It's not a very long course - I played the purples (6600 or so yards) while my father-in-law played the yellow (5800 or so). The tips are about 6900 yards - still not so long. All the par fives are relatively short, and on a drier day would have been reachable for me (an 8 handicap). The front nine is very nice, with some excellent golf holes and some not-remarkable holes. But the back nine is great, and gets better as it approaches the Lake, with the last five holes running along Lake Hartwell.It's not an overly difficult course (i.e. much more manageable than, say, the Warren Course at Notre Dame), with sizable penalties for spraying the ball, but if you're hitting it well, it's a course you could go very low on, I am sure.My daughter graduated from CU last week, so I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'll have my clubs with me when I am - the Walker Course is a beauty.

This was a golf course me and my friends waited a very long time to play. And after leaving today, we will never be back. Bottom line.While the course is fairly nice, it is way over priced and the staff there is very rude. Our T time was at 8:40, and we were checking in at the office at 8:41 am. And he made sure he let us know we should had already been on the first whole. After 17 years of playing, this was the first time I had ever had someone hold us to the exact minute. After driving to the 1st hole, the golf attendant did the same thing.."Yall are late!" he let us know.Then wanted us to skip the first few holes and play in with another person that was already playing. Did we? Why no, wasn't going to!We had rain checks from trying to play this course a few years earlier, and was expecting everything to be fine. But because we were playing earlier in the day than our RCs selected. We were charged $20 MORE bucks-which really pissed us off since I had no cash.I would say if you have never played here before,give it a try once. The course is fairly nice. But for us, we'll never be back. Too many other descent ones in the area to be treated the way you are here at Walker. Good luck and Good day to you and hopefully you're treated a lot better.

This is a relatively easy course, in pretty good shape, but compared to other courses of similar ilk in the area it's kind of expensive. There are some holes that are beautiful, or would be if the lake wasn't down so low due to the drought.

Clemson spends a lot of money keeping this average course above average ... lot's of blind shots and elevation changes, you'll do best with a Skycaddie... The Walker course would see more business if they lowered their rates to overcome the long drive.

We drove 40 minutes from our location to get to Clemson but the course was so great, we did it again the next day. At $43 for golf and cart you won't find a more pleasing but challenging golf course. The greens ran at 9, the fairways were beautifully conditioned and every tee box posed a different challenge while remaining enjoyable. The course has a variety of obstacles and elevations and one game is just not enough. The bonus was the $9 buffet breakfast (before 9:30 a.m.) in the conference centre. Then use the ample practice facilities before you play a great round. Bring your camera!

This is a great layout. Back nine is built on the lake and takes advantage of carries on the last three holes. High volume but stays in good shape. Greens tend to be modest speed in summer due to the heat and volume. Fairways are wide, so it is fun, but still wooded to cost the errant shot.

Provides challenge for golfers of all levels of skill. The course is in excellent shape and one is surrounded by the beauty of the Clemson University campus and Lake Hartwell. Number 17 signature hole features a "Tiger Paw" green and sand traps after your tee shot over the lake (par 3). Remodeled full service pro shop has snack bar, beverages, and golf equipment and clothing. Don't forget to get a Tiger Paw shirt or hat.Tee time is necessary. Friendly staff and members.
