governor's run golf club

We were booked here due to a conflict with another course on our package. I had a group of 8 and we play 36 per day. We got to the course and they are working on half of the course replacing sod!! The nine holes that were open were a mis-match of holes on the front and the back. There was no way we were playing this course four times in one day so we played 18 holes and left. I would make sure to call and be very specific with your questions when making tee times.

My sons and I picked this course off of a golfing website and decided to give it a try on our way to Florida from Pinehurst, NC. When I called to make a tee-time, they said it wouldn't be necessary since they had one of the 9 holes closed for aeration, so they weren't that busy. (I should have been suspicious since even a good course with one 9 closed would be busy on a Saturday!) Well, the course HAS the potential to be something really special, but it is far from it!! The nine holes we were allowed to play, were a mix of different holes from both the front and back courses. The greens were HORRIBLE! I'm talking about grass (where there was any) that was over a 1/4" long. Most of the rest of the greens were mostly dirt! Around the course you can see where it was intended to have homes built, but that never happened, which is probably why they don't have the finances to sustain it in the proper manner. We had paid to play 18, but walked off after 9 holes and did not ask for a refund.
