I pass by the sign day after day taking my grandson to school. so, one day a friend and I decide to seek out where this place is. So cute and the people are most friendly! They are set up for a wine-tasting event on a small scale perfect for good friends or a business event of less than 20. The wine offerings are limited but the service and quality are very good.
First of all understand that we love to support local and very much enjoy wine.We have visited many, many wineries in our travels. Living close to the NC border we are very convenient many really good wineries in Western NC and go quite often. South Caroline is not known for wineries and we were surprised to find out there was one in our own county. Road Trip!My husband likes sweeter and I enjoy dryer wines. At City Scape, we both found something (or rather I should say several ones) we liked. Their offering does tend to lean to the sweeter side. The facilities are modest with a small tasting room but very comfortable. It is owned by a couple who both makes the wine and manages the tasting room. We visited on a Saturday and even though they were busy we, along with every other guest, received very personal attention, Not knowing what to expect, we were very pleasantly surprised and even more surprised to realize we bought a case. We could not ever remember purchasing so many bottles from any other single winery.Recently we attended the annual Food and Wine Festival in Asheville and was pleased and proud to see that "our" local Greenville winery won two medals.Do yourself a favor and visit this winery, you will be glad you did.
My Friends and I have visited this establishment several times, and each time we come by we get the same, welcoming feeling. The Owners are wonderful people, we enjoy the tastings and the conversation each time we go. Well traveled, they have wonderful stories to share and our experiences bring us away each time with a new memory. Its has a very small tasting room, so if you plan on stopping by, I suggest that you call ahead for reservations. Though it's out in the Country, it is well worth the drive..
We live in Clemson & we had seen an ad for Happy Cow Creamery. Since it was about a 50min drive we were looking for other things to do in the area. We couldn't find anything online but when we were close to Happy Cow we saw a sign for City Scape Winery & well I couldn't resist but insist my boyfriend take us to there first! Labeling our experience as a pleasant surprise would be an understatement! It was about 1pm on a Thursday afternoon (we work at colleges & have our summers off) & basically had a one on one experience with Anita. We learned so much about not only wine but the history & process of making City Scape wine, local business practices, laws, & other wineries to visit. What we thought would be a quick trip was actually almost an hour & a half of talking and tasting. If you want to try all the wines it's $5, but if you want to try just a few they won't charge you (we tried about half). We bought 2 bottles each: Downtown Red (Malbec), Carolina Nights, Raspberry White Zin, & Green Apple Gewurz. We could have easily bought 5-8 each as well. Well priced if you are looking for unique gifts as well. We will definitely be back!
Although somewhat of a wine snob, I have to say I enjoyed the recent trip to this winery. The tasting room rivals some of those in the rural landscape of Sonoma. Beautifully appointed, clean, and the owners were very nice, friendly and accomodating. They offered around 11 different wines to taste for $5. Some of the wines are fortified with flavorings, and are good dessert wines. Don't miss the dark chocolate wine that's served with dark chocolate candy! You don't need to be a wine snob to enjoy this tasting room - there's something for every one. Including the kids - the owners have set up swings for them to play on, and goats to feed.If you like, you can reserve a large table, and they can order a cheese plate for you.Really alot of fun, and would go back again.
